Our new Jen's House fundraiser is here! Spring cleaning is in the air, and for Jen's House it means spring maintenance. Jen's House has some much needed upgrades and repairs that need our immediate attention, both for the safety and comfort of our Jen's House family. In addition, the students attending school virtually has created unique challenges. We need to update our technology, like a television to connect to the internet, a stronger internet connection, and new headphon...es for the students. The students of Jen's House are in several different grades, and do all of their virtual learning in one space. Without new headphones, they will have to attend classes in a noisy environment that makes it difficult to focus. We want to make sure something so easily remedied doesn't becomes a barrier between the students and their educations. With that in mind, we are asking for your support to help us make these much needed improvements. We need your help to reach our goal of around $1,200 CAD. Check out some "before" photos here. Here's the breakdown: Jen's House repairs: New drinking water filter - $245 Repair doors for bathroom - $160 Replace fans - $130 Change lightbulbs - $60 New water taps - $40 Virtual education expenses: Updated TV that connects to the internet - $490 New headphones for lessons - $60 Upgraded internet: additional $16 per month Help our Jen's House students have the smoothest at-home educational experience possible, while continuing to live comfortably. If we are lucky enough to surpass our target, any additional donations will go towards continuing Jen's House expenses. We will keep you posted on our fundraising goal as we go! To support these students, please follow the link below to donate today - any donation is so greatly appreciated. Thank you so much, and happy spring to you all! https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/36286

After a full year of distancing from the people we love, we wanted to make sure this year we focus on keeping connected! This month, we have a message from two Jen's House students who have come to us from the Mae Ra Moe Refugee Camp: 14-year-old Say Say, who is in grade 6, and 17-year-old Wah Eh Paw, who is in grade 8. They are cousins, and both attend Thung Seoi School together. Allow them to share a bit of their stories with you now. "You may wonder why our age and grade ...do not really match. With our ages like Wah Eh Paw, I should study in grade 11, and Say Say, I should study in grade 8. We used to live in refugees camp and we have school in the camp, but our education system is not qualified with the system in city, so we have to start at the beginning in Thai school. In the camp we study in Karen school. We are cousins and we come here and stay in Jen’s House nearly 2 years already. Last year we have the chance to visit our family in the camp, but since the start of Covid-19 the camp was closed so we were not able to visit our family. For school holidays we stay with our aunt in Mae Sariang. In Jen’s House when we have free time our duty routine is watering the plants, cooking and cleaning. We enjoy staying here in Jen’s house and thank KLEO for supporting us. We don’t have a chance to visit our family in the camp but we don’t really feel sad much because here in Jen’s House we have friends that won’t let us feel bored or home sick. We hope that the camp will be opening soon so we can visit our family, but while we are studying here we will do our best for our grade and study hard. The first year in school was a challenge for us because we can’t really understand all the Thai, but now we can follow up already." To support students like Say Say and Wah Eh Paw, please follow the link below. Your donation will continue to sponsor their educations, and the educations of the rest of the Jen's House students. Thank you for your endless support. https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/36286

Happy International Women's Day! As we are a women-founded and a women-run organization, we wanted to take this opportunity to thank some incredible women who are instrumental to KLEO. Our wonderful Jen's House mother, Tamla, is the heart of Jen's House, and we are so grateful to her for all she does every day for the students. A number of the Jen's House students she supports are young women themselves, whose strength and ambition is an honour to witness. We also want to th...ank the number of women who are long-running supporters and volunteers, who have been critical to the success of KLEO. And finally, to our founder Coleen Scott. Thank you for paving the way for so much positive change, and for being an inspirational example of what it truly means to be kind, generous, and strong. We hope today is a reminder of the women in your life and around the world who should be celebrated, and not only today. Happy International Women's Day to you all!

Our final #20in2020 update is here. When we started this campaign last January, we didn't know just how important it would be. We had no idea that we wouldn't be able to also rely on the events we host every year to help fund Jen's House. However, unsurprisingly our supporters stepped up as they always do, and our team of monthly donors saved the day. While we didn't quite reach our goal of $2,500 in monthly donations, we want to celebrate the amazing progress made. We went f...rom $719 in monthly donations, to $1,313! That means we went from having less than 6 fully sponsored students, to 10! Almost double the students are guaranteed support now compared to this time last year and we are so thrilled. Every dollar counted more than ever, so thank you so much to all our monthly donors who joined us this year, and to the ones who stuck with us. If you're interested in joining this amazing group of donors, please follow the link below. Thank you. https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/36286
