New year, new update: As you all know, our district's lockdown is scheduled to end January 9th. Pending no change to that and as soon as we hear back from the Kirkland Lake Community Complex on next steps to return, then we will know when practices will resume. Details on U9 game format will be finalized and shared ASAP.... U9+ game schedules are posted on ndhl.ca/schedule (select our league, North, and your team). Team Managers will begin updating team snap as soon as they can. Surely it goes without saying but everything is subject to change and the schedule is tentative.

KLMHA is officially on break! (and what timing....) Though we may share final game updates here over the next few days, the Executive will be off and not actively responding to emails until January 3rd. If there are any major updates regarding our district's return to play based on lockdowns or zone changes, we will send an update via TeamSnap no later than January 3rd. Game schedules still need to be finalized and will be sent, along with details on U9 modified/full ice by... Jan 3rd, as well. This holiday season is unlike any other, to cap off a year unlike any other. Throughout this season, and as we move into a new (and hopefully better) year, we hope that you can take time this holiday to find the good that did happen around you, enjoy moments of peace, connect with family and friends even if they can’t be in person, and wrap yourself in the warmth of memories from holidays past, and wonderful glimpses of the joy that still lives under the surface. We are looking for volunteers to work the door during our home games to collect the screening forms and to ensure nobody enters earlier than 15 minutes prior to the game time. Our hockey community is saddened to hear of Noah’s passing. If you didn’t know Noah’s story, Noah was a defenceman who played for the North Bay Trappers Peewee AAA team before suffering from blood clots which unfortunately led to a stroke. We received this important update from the Kirkland Lake Community Complex with updated COVID-19 protocols. All other protocols remain in effect such as flow of traffic, entrance/exit doors etc, which are detailed on klmha.ca/klmha-return-to-hockey-plan/. This update is nothing new really - mostly just reminders/clarifications to address the many questions they Complex has received. Please make note of this line: "It is the responsibility of the user group to ensure that... the above protocols are abided by. In the case that they are not being followed by volunteers, athletes and guardians, the user group will be restricted from further rentals." We, KLMHA, are a user group. No one likes having to remind people of the rules and so we are reminding and asking KLMLHA families to please follow all the rules so there are no restrictions implemented. We appreciate everyone working together to keep hockey in place this season. See more

We want to ensure everyone is planning ahead and are sending a reminder that only 1 guardian per player is allowed in the arena. This means no siblings (unless they are in the same practice group, which means they are going on the ice too). To be clear, please do not bring them past the entrance - we have to turn them away. One parent/guardian is permitted to stay in the building while the player is on the ice. If an on-ice volunteer (coach, trainer) is a parent, a second... parent is permitted to attend and observe practice. Changerooms: One parent/guardian per player may enter to tie skates for 10 and under players then the guardian must leave immediately. Our association is governed by the Ontario Government, Timiskaming Health Unit, Complex and NOHA's rules - we ask that if you chose to register for hockey this season you help make it a great experience for everyone by following the rules in place so we can continue to have hockey. We are asking/encouraging all families to complete the Complex COVID-19 screening ONLINE . It helps make the entrance to the arena much faster for everyone and less work for the volunteers. It can be completed any time of day the day you will be at the arena. Be sure to enter your email address to receive the confirmation which must be shown when you enter the arena. Our community is mourning the loss of a great man, Dennis Perrier. Our thoughts and prayers are going out to the Perrier family during this heartbreaking time. Dennis, a part of our hockey family for many years, was a selfless leader, a volunteer in his small community of Swastika and Kirkland Lake and had a huge impact on many lives. Not only would you see him down at the Joe with his own kids, grandkids and teammates but he also played a huge role in keeping hockey going i...n our community by taking care of the Swastika rink and rink shack throughout the years! There is no wonder his children have followed in his footsteps of selflessness and continue to be pillars in our hockey community through coaching and Board/Executive roles.
