A few shots from the dredge last weekend. Beautiful northern lights! , and an impressive smoke column from a neighbouring fire. One from the Hunker fire , which burnt about 15km away.- Down to mineral soil in places. (Hot!)
A big thanks to Klondike Gold , for the mention- in this informative article !
Effective immediately, Yukon Wildland Fire Management officials have implemented a ban on all open fires within the fire management areas of Dawson, Mayo, Carma...cks, Ross River, Whitehorse, Teslin, Haines Junction and Beaver Creek. This ban applies to all campgrounds and open fires, including campfires outside of campgrounds. This ban also prohibits the use of fireworks and burning in any landfill or dump site in Yukon. Closed cooking utensils such as barbecues with lids and small cook stoves are excluded from the ban, and must be used with extreme caution. Officials will be monitoring campgrounds, landfills and dumps to ensure the ban is being respected. Individuals not respecting this ban may be subject to prosecution. For questions about the fire ban, members of the public are asked to call Wildland Fire Management at 867-456-3845. To view a map of where the fire ban is in place, and to find current fire updates, follow Yukon Protective Services on Facebook and Twitter or visit https://www.yukon.ca/wildfires.

This weekend, firefighters from the Fire Marshal’s Office and the City of Whitehorse, Yukon Fire Department competed in regional FireFit Championships in Comox,... B.C. Mount Lorne Volunteer Fire Department Deputy Chief Jeff Boyd excelled this weekend with a strong run that earned him a gold medal in the over-50 category. In an emotional moment after the competition, Boyd climbed the six-storey competition tower to scatter the ashes of his daughter Elizabeth, herself a volunteer firefighter and FireFit athlete who passed away last year. The FireFit race puts firefighters’ fitness and skills to the test in a race against the clock. If you think you have what it takes to join the next generation of FireFit athletes, talk to us about a rewarding career with your local volunteer fire department. OK A few more..... And where they’re made .
A fresh door. More pics soon! Happy Spring!
Huge picture frame???
Remember, remember... Dawson's very own explosive-setting malcontent , the Educated Swede. In the winter of 1913, Yukon Gold Company's Dredge No.1 was unexpectedly destroyed by a bomb, and police were following tell-tale ski tracks in search of the terrorist responsible.
This is for tomorrow's Dawson City Museum Auction. 12x12" canvas print of my "Forest Dreamer". The frame is a one off, made with great care by Iain Weatherston from Klondike Dredge Wood. The wood is from Dredge #10. I really love how nice it looks. I might actually bid on it!
