Klondyke Trail Groomers 08.05.2021

We had a poor start to our weekend. Friday night our groomer driver went to start the groomer at the beginning of his shift, only to have the batteries explode into pieces. We picked up some batteries and got them installed today. The groomer is back up and running and it will be out on the trails tonight to try to undo some of today’s abuse.

Thank you to every one for the positive comments. We are working to get the rail line fixed up. It sure did take some abuse over the weekend. This weekend is the heaviest traffic that we have ever seen. We did expect it though given the fact that it was it was the only trail available for usage in Southern Ontario. Enjoy the trails and stay safe.

Thank you to Kevin Matheson and the Owen Sound East Side / Chelsey Snowmobile club for coming down with their groomer. To lend it for pulling out tracks out of the bush. This sure is a big time consuming job to get all of the pieces to line up properly to get the job completed. Now we just have to wait for the dealer to get the machine fixed up and returned to us. Again, Thanks to all who helped this come together.

We managed to get the tracks off of the machine, and had a tractor come in to tow the groomer out of the bush. This tractor still had troubles getting the groomer up hills. While waiting Cooper got some seat time behind the wheel. He can’t wait until he is old enough to drive. A huge thank you to Ken Coolidge for coming out to tow the groomer. Also a big thanks to all of the guys that have been out there freezing their buts off dealing with the situation.

Unfortunately we have had a break down with our groomer. It will be out of commission for a while. In the mean time we have made arrangements for a spare groomer to come from else where in District 9, for us to use. We should be able to continue maintains our trails to the same level as they have been most of the season. Enjoy your riding this weekend, & be safe.

Wow, we sure are seeing a lot of traffic on the rail line. We are trying to keep it maintained but it is tough with this much traffic and still trying to get other trails opened. So what would those trails possibly look like you wonder? This is from our groomer driver today. We finally had enough snow to get through, and we went around the side where it is the shallowest.

Many of you seem skeptical that we were going to stay on top of the trail maintenance. Yes it does get beat up daily with heavy traffic usage. Also we happened to have a major break down later in the week, this week, putting our groomer out of commission. They have stood up pretty good to this point. We made arrangements to get the Owen Sound club to come down and do our grooming for us until we are up and running. Below is a photo of the rail line earlier this morning. Thi...s little bit of snow is sure going to help things. We just need to hope that the weather the next couple of days doesn’t get too warm. Thank you to the Owen Sound East / Chesley club’s for coming and grooming our trails. See more

We have been out packing snow down for a few days now and it looks promising! Keep an eye on the Interactive Trail Guide for status changes. Please be aware that there is a lot of water and mud out there. The trails that have not been posted as available are still unavailable for a reason.

The end of the season looks like it is coming very soon. We have been out grooming most nights this week to be able to give you as good of a finish to the season as we can. Enjoy the trails while you can but please continue to stay on them. The surfaces are very hard. Be safe.

As most of you know, we had a major break down on the groomer last week. This break down has put that machine out of comission for the season. We have arranged the use of another groomer to finish the season. We had issues with this machine too, but seem to have them fixed, finally. After being down for more than a week our trails did get beat up and there was nothing that we could do about it. We are grooming again and hope to get things back into shape, but it isn’t a 5 mi...nute job. It takes us about 27 hrs of grooming to cover our trails 1 time, if everything goes perfectly. We will also have to work around this warm weather that is coming. If you feel the need to point out that our trails are rough while we are broke down, I would be more than happy to put your name at the top of the contact list the next time that there is an issue that needs dealt with. Like last night when our driver got stuck and I had to go out and dig all of the hard packed snow from under neath and around it. Thanks I do appreciate all of the positive feed back that we have had. See more
