------------------------- Edit: For what is worth, this video was recorded at the request of our LE students to show some joint locking techniques that could be... beneficial when searching or handcuffing a suspect. This video was completely focusing on the position of the hands and sons of the transitions. When practicing this type of techniques, one should be aware of things like: partner resisting by pulling the elbow in and/or trying to run away, or keeping the hand closed in a fist, or slapping/punching back. Adjust your body position and the amount of pressure accordingly and have a backup plan. Once again, thank you Charlie for making me look good on the camera! Practice safely and don't break any fingers in the process ... or do! ----------------------------- Video recorded on Friday, maybe this is useful for some of you LE officers. Thank you Charlie for being a great partner See more

Great information here from Mike Seeklander on flashlight use. Do you carry one? (for the record, I like his approach to using a handheld light with a firearm, too...works well for me)

Pretty sensical when you think about it, but important to remember. Take a quick walk and ask how you do at this!

There's a lot of truth here about dealing with a knife attack...and we see it again and again on video. How much do you train against a knife?
Huge Difference, very well put by this instructor.

This just in from The Department of Obvious Conclusions... But seriously, the statistics and logic in this article are really solid. Teach women to defend thems...elves and see a 46% reduction in completed rape and a 63% reduction in attempted rape. So why isn't this required on all college campuses? Why isn't this required in middle school and high school? See more

A knife attack is potentially the scariest of all defensive encounters. Have you trained to do what you must in the moment against a knife attack? It’s an impor...tant part of Active Self Protection! Original video of the knife attack and news stories with more details available here: https://get-asp.com/i6t7 What does this video teach us about defending ourselves from a knife attack? 1. It’s important to be trained and ready to protect yourself against a knife attack as it is against an attack with a firearm. FBI homicide data says that about 4 times the number of people are killed with handguns as with knives, but since gunshots are about four times more fatal than knife wounds, it means the number of attacks are probably similar! (if you look at the FBI data, hands and feet kill a lot of people, too!) This leads us to the principle that we must be ready for a knife attack that begins at close distance, and have the empty-handed skills to defend ourselves. Want to learn more? There are 8 additional lessons, 3 class starters for instructors, and links to more information about this knife attack on our website: https://get-asp.com/i6t7 Attitude. Skills. Plan.
