As many of you know, I have dedicated my life to Kids with Incarcerated Parents - KIP Canada and the children we support who have been affected by their parent’...s involvement with the justice system. For the past nine years, our kids and the community we’ve built have given my life meaning and filled my heart with joy. In this journey, I have witnessed our kids endure ridicule, stigma, and isolation solely based on their parent’s mistakes. Not surprisingly, the systemic oppression they face coupled with being separated from their parents often plague their mental health and well-being. At KIP Canada we are committed to providing ongoing individual, family, and group support from arrest to reintegration tailored to their needs, strengths and interests as well as the trauma they have experienced. Our holistic approach has shown to foster resilience, promote well-being, and nurture positive outcomes across all areas of life. Despite the effectiveness of our work, our programming and supports rely on the compassion and generosity of those in our local, national, and international community. For 6 years, I have walked from Toronto to Kingston, Toronto to Ottawa, and Toronto to Hamilton totalling over 2000 Kms for kids with incarcerated parents. This year on Saturday September 26th, I will embark on a 55 kms dawn to dusk journey, from the Franklin Horner Community Centre in Toronto to City Hall in Hamilton with the aim to raise awareness and funds for our vital programs. 10 teams will walk beside me while other supporters around the globe will join the journey virtually. How can you support KIP? 1. Join the journey. Here is a link to register for Virtual team: https://www.canadahelps.org//Ki/team/monicas-virtual-team/ 2. Sponsor a team to raise funds for our vital supports https://www.canadahelps.org///p2p/Kilometres-for-KIP-2020/ 3. Post on social media platforms and share @kipcanada with your friends, family & networks. Every dollar raised, every step taken, and every post shared helps to build a community that our children deserve and need to thrive. Together, we can make a difference.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone around the world who showed support for kids with incarcerated parents during KIP Awareness Week. May we continue to believe in KIP, show compassion, kindness, and understanding, be guided by their voices, and join as a global village to support and foster resilience for the innocent kids left behind. Together, we will rise. #Ittakesavillage #KIPFamily #KIPCommunity #WeSupportKIP #WeBelieveinKIP #SpreadtheSupport

Jessica has finished her walk from Toronto to Hamilton in just 12 hours and 45 minutes! She kept her spirits up and kept going despite the pain she was in. She walked to spread awareness for kiddos who are left behind. Together, we can make a difference for the innocent kids left behind
