Anyone who knows me as a photographer, knows I am obsessed with colourful lighting (gels and LEDs)... I was really inspired by "Neon in City", an exhibit at the Museum of Vancouver showcasing real vintage neon signs that used to glow on our city streets. Natural neon was a reddish orange gas encased in clear tubing. It's not actually orange until you isolate it in higher density (this is where the glass tube comes in) and apply moderate electric voltage to it. Then it becomes... reactive and glows. (https://www.sygns.com/blogs/magazine/the-sa-ns-of-neon-gas) I also really loved the teal colour in neon signs and the combo of orange and teal. So thankfully Abbey let me experiment with that colour combination for her! If you want to know how other colours were created: "The other way to produce colors is to coat the glass with a phosphor or other chemical that will glow a certain color when it is energized. Because of the range of coatings available, most modern lights no longer use neon, but are fluorescent lamps that rely on a mercury/argon discharge and a phosphor coating. If you see a clear light glowing in a color, it's a noble gas light. Another way to change the color of the light, although it's not used in light fixtures, is to control the energy supplied to the light. While you usually see one color per element in a light, there are actually different energy levels available to excited electrons, which correspond to a spectrum of light that element can produce." Time to get back to booking photoshoots and creating art! I am doing outdoor photoshoots only for the time being and taking precautions for everyone's safety to reduce the risk of exposure to covid-19. We can actually still get a studio look outside. I have no problem bringing my lights outside depending on the shoot. *Anyone who books with me and wishes to get their hair/make-up done, I will now always be reaching out to BIPOC make-up and hair artists first.*... **For me, the most exciting news is that I'm offering my services at a discount for any BIPOC individuals that would like to book headshot, boudoir or creative shoots!**

It's definitely been hard to focus on editing photos since we started isolating, but I have finished a bunch of sets from photoshoots pre-social distancing. Here are a few of my favourites... I can't wait to show you the rest of Cici's images and Amethyst's water theme images too!

I think I’m obsessed with colour. After many photo shoots, experiments, studying and taking courses on colour theory and colour gel photography, I am extra happy with these! Model: @sugarskellington Special thank you to Shawn Major (Major Props & Locations Major Productions) who built the set and this wicked cross! His photography of me is pretty incredible too!
