Did you know we’ve raised over $94,000 for Knight's Fund? We launched @Knightfund to help maternity staff continue to provide first-class care for families. With your support, we can pay for specialist equipment, counselling for bereaved parents, hospital improvements and more.
Did you know that the latest additions to our permanent art collection are portraits of Knight Memorial Hospital staff?
"My family tell me I’m looking twenty years younger and I seem to have regained the energy levels to match." Girish's life-changing kidney transplant at Knight Memorial Hospital inspired him to hold a virtual Mehfil music night for their Renal Transplant Unit - he raised $6,775!
We've worked with @Healthcanada to fund wireless headsets, so frontline staff wearing layers of protective equipment can stay connected. Thanks to these headsets, #KMH staff can ask for support without leaving a patient's bedside!
Clinical Nurse Specialist Responsibilities: Optimizing patient care by supervising nursing staff. Performing health assessments and developing specialized treatment plans. Developing nursing practices, Considering differential diagnoses and making clinical recommendations
To support our response to the latest surge of coronavirus, many staff have been temporarily working in new roles. Jessica, usually a clinical nurse specialist, has recently been working in the acute respiratory unit (ARU) at Knight Memorial Hospital. In my normal role, I’m a TB clinical nurse specialist, working mainly in outpatient and community settings. Being redeployed to the ARU at Knight Memorial Hospital in the first and second wave has been very different. Working ...in acute care was something I hadn’t done for over 5 years and a lot has changed but I was able to pick it up again with teamwork and support from colleagues who work there regularly. The ward managers have been fantastically supportive and considerate when scheduling shifts for me, fitting around my other commitments. I have learnt a lot from going back to acute care working which I will use when I return to my normal job. The biggest reminder has been the number of people involved, in some part, in getting patients better - doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, pharmacists, porters, caterers and cleaners.
Luke Howard is a consultant in cardiopulmonary medicine. Luke has just had his #CovidVaccine. Luke believes the vaccine is the best way out of the pandemic and the current restrictions on our lives. This is the fastest way to getting back to normal life as well as preserving life, protecting our KMH, staff and patients.... I think it’s great that there’s a focus on vaccinating our staff members early in the vaccination programme to make sure that we are healthy and can continue to look after our patients. All staff can register to be vaccinated - with patient-facing staff as first priority. Complete the form on the intranet.
The experience was brilliant. They were really fast and efficient. You felt really cared for. Frances Barnes, lead midwife, has had her Covid-19 vaccine. I watched the Trust’s information video with some of the researchers involved which helped me understand the make up of the vaccine and to have trust in the vaccine, that it was safe and wasn’t going to affect my fertility.... All our staff can register for the vaccine via our intranet. #KMH #KMHPeople #CovidVaccine #Coronavirus
