***Promo has ended!*** It's pattern release day!!! The Reflector shawl pattern is now available for purchase on Ravelry, and is 15% off all week with coupon code REFLECTOR. You can check out the pattern here: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/reflector-2... If you're on my mailing list, you will have received a special coupon code for 25% off the pattern, and Patrons can use code JAN_2020_REWARD to pick up their copy for free (only works for Patrons pledging $5/month or more). A big thanks to Flock Fibre Studio for the spectacular yarn. It's their Daydream MCN base, which is a merino/cashmere/nylon blend and, as the same suggests, an absolute dream to work with. You can check out their yarns here: https://flockfibrestudio.com/

***Promo has ended!*** At long last, the Duchess shawl is ready for re-release on Ravelry (as well as Etsy, LoveCrafts, and CraftFoxes)! This fingering weight shawlette was originally published in 2018 by Knit Picks, and I'm pleased to be able to offer it now as an individual PDF download. Plus when you purchase through my Ravelry shop (https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/duchess-4), you'll receive 15% off (use coupon code DUCHESS). Newsletter subscribers will have recei...ved a coupon code for 25% off, and Fan Club tier patrons will be able to download the pattern for free (use code june_2020_reward; code only works for current Fan Club tier patrons). . A few things I love about this pattern: It's based in garter stitch, which is my favourite The lace diamond pattern alternates between stockinette and garter stitch, a clever detail if I do say so myself The points of the garter stitch border line up with the lace diamond pattern for a polished finish . In addition to being freshly formatted, tech edited, and photographed, I've also included a low vision accessible PDF for those knitters with visual impairments or anyone who uses a screen reader to follow patterns. This is something I am doing with all new and re-released patterns, and I'm also working my way through my back catalog and creating low vision PDFs of older patterns, as well. To see a list of my patterns that currently have low vision accessible PDFs available, click here: https://www.ravelry.com/bu/low-vision-accessible-patterns-2 Happy knitting!

Coming soon to a Ravelry pattern shop near you... the Reflector shawl! This one has been a loooooonnnnnng time in the making. Like, years. And I'm really, really, really pleased with how it came out! Here are a few highlights:... Alternating Stockinette and Garter Stitch stripes in two colours Intarsia colour change at the middle of each row Picot bind-off Available in a low vision-accessible format for knitters who are visually impaired/use screen readers This is SUCH a fun knit for two special skeins of fingering weight yarn. I used Flock Fibre Studio Daydream MCN (MCN = merino, cashmere, and nylon) and it's so lovely and soft. If you'd like to get 25% off the pattern when it comes out next week, be sure to sign up for my mailing list (link: https://goo.gl/9GZZ7A). If email lists aren't your thing, you can still get 15% off by using the code I post here on Facebook when the pattern goes live. [Image description: A photo of the Reflector shawl held up in front of a model who is standing in front of a plain, off-white wall. The piece is a two-colour shawl with alternating thick and thin stripes knit in a charcoal-coloured and a speckled yarn, and there is a colour change at the middle of each row. It is finished with a picot edge.]

For those of you not on Instagram (or if you don't follow me, I'm @kniterations), this is just a quick reminder that the Indie Design Gift-a-long (GAL) is underway! You can check out all the details on Ravelry (https://www.ravelry.com/groups/indie-design-gift-a-long) and IG (https://www.instagram.com/indiegiftalong/). Basically, it's a 5-week-long knit-a-long (KAL)/crochet-a-long (CAL) of holiday gift knitting that begins with a massive pattern sale and continues through Dece...mber with lots of fun and prizes (note you can knit/crochet any paid patterns by participating designers, not just those included in the sale, to be eligible for prize entries). I have 20 patterns included in the 25% off sale which ends tonight at midnight EST (use coupon code giftalong2019 at checkout). Happy Monday! My December designer newsletter went out this morning, and in it, I continued my series on how to list materials when writing a knitting pattern. Make sure to sign up so you won't miss out on future newsletters: https://goo.gl/9GZZ7A I also included my tech editing availability for the month which will be limited over the holidays. Get in touch soon if you'd like to reserve a spot!

Morning, friends! My October Designer Newsletter went out this morning, and this month I'm talking about listing yarn requirements in your patterns. This is something that seems like it would be straight forward, but often contains errors and inconsistencies. In the newsletter, I go over what to include in the yarn section of your pattern, discuss some of the most common mistakes I see, and address some additional challenges you may encounter. If you're not on my mailing list...... number one, how dare you (kidding! But zero apologies for the Office reference). In all seriousness, if you're not on my mailing list but are interested in reading more, I've created an accompanying blog post with all the information: https://kniterations.wordpress.com//october-designer-news/ If topics like this interest you, be sure to sign up so you don't miss out next month! The newsletter also contains my tech editing availability and is the best way to make sure you don't miss out on securing a tech editing spot. You can sign up here: https://goo.gl/9GZZ7A

Happy Friday! Just wanted to quickly address something I've had a few questions about recently - my Patreon page. I've had billing paused for a while as I don't want to charge Fan Club tier patrons on months when I am unable to offer all the promised rewards. I am still in the planning stages of getting the design side of my business back up and running so it'll be a couple of months before I have new patterns to offer. However, pausing billing means I also miss out on lower ...tier pledges, even though those patrons don't receive pattern rewards. For example, there are patrons who generously pledge $1 or $2 a month without expecting patterns in return. When I pause billing, it pauses those pledges as well as the ones tied to pattern rewards. All this to say... billing will remain paused while I'm working on a solution. Patreon is such a great way for artists to earn guaranteed monthly income from fans of their work, but I have to make sure I am able to deliver what I promise. Thanks to all who have inquired. I truly appreciate the support! Designs pictured from L to R: Top row: Corner Brook shawl, Avalon socks, In a Fog mitts Middle row: Intercoastal hat, Rowe baby blanket, Sleet hat Bottom row: Little Heart's Ease mitts, Birchy Lake cowl, Chance Cove shawl

Word! My September Designer Newsletter went out this morning. In it, I discuss my return to work and how I have been setting boundaries in an effort to maximize my efficiency and minimize both the amount of time spent on admin tasks AND the personal/family time spent distracted by work. The big takeaways: I do not have to be constantly available on every platform to provide good customer service Setting clear expectations, and meeting them, is paramount... Eliminating distractions is a great way to boost productivity I used to waste a lot of time For those not on my mailing list, I've created an accompanying blog post so head over there for a read if this topic interests you: https://kniterations.wordpress.com//september-designer-ne/ If you're a knitwear designer, or interested in becoming one, be sure to sign up for my newsletter (https://goo.gl/9GZZ7A) to have monthly tips (and my editing availability) delivered to your inbox monthly. I've only got a handful of tech editing spots left for September, so get in touch ASAP if you'd like to reserve one!

New pattern day! Well, sort of. The Red Cliff cowl is now available for purchase in my Ravelry shop (and 15% off all week with coupon code REDCLIFF)! It had previously been released exclusively to Fan Club tier patrons. I'm so happy to finally be sharing this one with all of you! https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/red-cliff-cowl... This is the second pattern in what will likely become the Red Cliff collection (the Red Cliff mittens were published back in November). I have an affinity towards geometric colourwork patterns, and this one is easy enough to memorize, but interesting enough to not be boring. I want to put it on everything! Email subscribers will have received your 25% off coupon codes earlier (yay!). But if you're not on my mailing list, no worries. You can still get 15% off all week with coupon code REDCLIFF when you purchase on Ravelry (https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/red-cliff-cowl). Offer expires Saturday at midnight PDT! Sample is knit with Tukuwool Fingering in Auri and Hohka from Cast On Cast Off!
