Knobby's Kids 02.01.2021

The Knobby's Kids Crew would like to wish all of you and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. This has been a difficult year for many and we hope that all of you are doing well. In years past we had the opportunity to celebrate the Holiday Season together both on and off the ice. We miss the time we spent together and the fun we enjoyed every Saturday morning. This December we missed out on our visit from Santa and our Christmas Dinner so our team decided to do something ...special this year in hopes of spreading some joy. We found three families who were in need of some Christmas cheer and put together all the fixins for a Christmas morning breakfast and Christmas dinner for them. We also got some clothing for the kids and with Santa's help a few gifts as well. The team at Knobby's Kids hopes to see you all again in person next winter. We hope to once again spend time together on the ice and celebrate the holidays together too. Keep your head up and your stick on the ice. The Knobby's Kids Team.

We hope everyone is doing well. As we begin this holiday season we would like to mention one local charity that was a big part of of our founders giving spirit. This is the Windsor Goodfellows. They were supported by Knobby Knudsen, Frank Spry and Jerry Slavik. In the past at this time of year you may have encountered Knobby or Frank on a street corner handing out a newspaper to raise funds for The Windsor Goodfellows. Covid has changed things this year and volunteers wi...ll now be in stationed in parking lots around the city this Thursday, Friday and Saturday (Nov 26, 27, 28). Please go to https://www.windsorgoodfellows.org/ to find out were they will be if you wish to make a contribution to this great local cause. If you are unaware of what the Goodfellows do, they are an organization that is a major source of community support and giving throughout the year. This includes providing Christmas meals and gifts, a weekly food bank, school breakfast programs, supplying children with shoes and boots, and helping thousands of families in need every year. Their mission for over a century is "to help those that cannot help themselves". They give in the same spirit that Knobby's Kids Hockey does and we hope that, if you can, you support them in the coming days as many in Windsor could use some help this year. Thank you from Knobby's Kids.

Knobby's Kids have cancelled it's 2020-2021 season due to COVID-19. We have concluded it is not possible to safely run our program during this pandemic after considering public health requirements. We have decided out of concern for the health and safety of all participants in Knobby's Kids, including players, coaches, volunteers, family, and the general public that it is best that we do not run our program this season. The health and safety of the Knobby's Kids' family is ...of the utmost importance to our program. We hope to return to playing hockey in the 2021-2022 season. We have decided to allow those players for whom it would have been their last season this year to return next season. We will keep you informed as to the next season and we hope for everyone's good health. We hope to see everyone return in 2021.

We at Knobby's Kid are so pleased to have fed a full Christmas dinner to over 200 of our kids and their family members this past Saturday. They had turkey and ...all the trimmings: mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, carrots, world's best mac & cheese, rolls and a variety of desserts. Thanks to the help of our generous sponsors and volunteers we always have leftovers that allow us to feed many people at the Downtown Mission as well. This year we were able to bring ten large trays of food, forty free McDonalds coffees and thirty $5 Timmies gift cards. We also collected forty toques, some mittens and blankets so we could share some warmth this Holiday season. We would not have been able to do this without the support our great volunteers, but more importantly the huge support we get from the people and companies of Windsor and Essex County. In providing the dinner we had the help of Real Canadian Superstore on Dougall, Stiemar Bread Windsor, a master chef who made the stuffing, mashed potatoes and mac & cheese and some parents who gave monetary donations at the hall but didn't want any public recognition by us. We would also like to thank Santa Claus for visiting our kids at the rink before the dinner. For these companies and people, as well as all the volunteers, Knobby's Kids is thankful and proud of what we accomplished this Christmas season. From all of us at Knobby's Kids we wish you a Merry Christmas and happy holidays. Please stay safe and healthy and we hope you have a happy new year. See you at the rink. The Knobby's Kids Family
