The Know Show Trivia Company 11.05.2021

So y’all remember that time they announced the wrong Oscar winner? Or the wrong Miss Universe? Well, I feel their pain. After a recount and a recalibration (and a proper allocation of bonus points), GOATKOTOKS wound up winning last night’s Pop Quiz after all. Apologies for the confusion and I’ll happily explain what happened if you’d care to email me. Suffice to say, a lot of you know your music...or at least, grew up with record collections eerily similar to mine. Despite a couple of glitches, people seemed to have a good time. Thanks to everyone who showed up virtually to play. Hope to see you back on May 1st for the next new game! Rock on, everyone!

Just a reminder that I'll be hosting another free online trivia game tonight. As usual, players will be using Google Forms to submit their answers (and for one of the rounds, you'll HAVE to use it) but if you prefer to do it the old-fashioned way or if you want to keep track of your team responses, here's a link to a tracking sheet you can use: bit.ly/TKS_S2V8_trk . Have a great Saturday and I hope to see you tonight!

Greetings, Trivia Nation. Hope everyone had an enjoyable weekend. The Know Show’s next trivia offering is currently being produced in our secret laboratory. This one promises to be the most ambitious one yet. It’s called ‘Pop Quiz, Hotshot’ and will be entirely music-based so if you’ve ever listened to a song, it could be the game for you. Details on the poster. See you April 10.

That was a fun night! Thanks to Calgary Corporate Challenge for letting me work with them on this one. Amazing job by the RJC Engineers to finish in under an hour. If anyone has any feedback on what they thought of the race (what they liked, what they didn't like, suggestions as to how to make it better), feel free to comment below or send me a direct message. Big thanks to everyone who came out to race. Really hope we can offer more races in the future.

Gonna re-up this one since time is running out. If you participated in my Christmas Interneteering event, I've created something similar for the good folks at Calgary Corporate Challenge as a charity fundraiser. It all goes down this Tuesday night starting at 7pm. If you're unfamiliar with the concept, it's a virtual race around the world. Solving puzzles will unlock the coordinates to a variety of locations across the globe. Think The Amazing Race without all that runnin...g and sweating and getting mad at cab drivers in foreign countries. The CCC team clocked in at around 1:20:00 (as in 80 minutes) when they tested it out and they're pretty confident no one could possibly beat that time. PROVE THEM WRONG!! Hope to see you on the finish mat! https://www.ccc-registration.com/registra/2021-amazing-race

Thanks to everyone who joined me for another online trivia session last night. Congrats to B Sharp who lived up to their name and emerged victorious, although they had to sweat out a tiebreaker to do it. I believe it’s their first win so Woot! Woot! If you played, I’d love to hear your feedback, particularly your thoughts on the last round which had an added new twist. The next live event will be called ‘Pop Quiz, Hotshot!’. That will take place on Saturday, April 10. It will be music-based so if that’s up your alley, you’ll want to check it out. In the meantime, stay safe and stay smart!

I have to apologize again for inadvertently giving out fake news during one of my quizzes. At my last show, I said that Keith Urban was originally from Australia, when in fact, he was born in Whangarei, New Zealand and moved to Queensland, Australia when he was two. My apologies to Mr. Urban (who I'm sure is following me on Facebook) and for any players who were confused due to my error. I promise to try harder the next time...which will be Saturday, March 20 at 7:30 pm. (*hint, hint*)

Greetings, trivia fans. If you missed The Know Show’s last virtual trivia event earlier this month (the delightfully titled ‘What the *Bleep*?’), you’ve got a second chance. It will be replayed on Wed. Mar. 17 starting at 7:30pm. You don’t even have to be Irish to play! Next new game will be Saturday, March 20. Zoom details for that one will be released Thursday. Have a great week!

Something different than the usual trivia night that I've been working on for the good folks at Calgary Corporate Challenge. It's not so much what-you-know as how-fast-can-you-find-the-answer. One part trivia, one part scavenger hunt, one part Amazing Race...all parts fun. AND guaranteed to be less time-consuming than last September's first attempt at this was. ;-) Check it out!

Thanks to everyone who showed up online to play my first trivia game of 2021. Congrats to Doug's Pugs for surviving the tie-breaker round and winning their second game in a row. They'll get a chance to complete the hat trick on Feb. 6th when the next Know Show Trivia Company event drops. Also, a mea culpa from me. One of the questions I asked last night was "What is the most common first letter in the names of the fifty United States?" I originally intended to qualify th...at so that it referenced "one-word" names but forgot. Therefore, in addition to the answer 'M' which I gave, I went back and credited the teams that said 'N' since both are used as the first letter in eight states. It didn't change the final standings much but unlike some people who hold positions of power far more important than "trivia guy", I need to hold myself accountable when I screw up. There's more than enough disinformation online already. ;-) Thanks again for playing. Would love to hear if you have any feedback. Hope to "see" you all again in three weeks! Stay safe, be kind and remember: Everyone knows something!

‘Sup, Trivia Nation? The next new offering from The Know Show Trivia Company will be The Root of All Trivia, scheduled for Saturday, March 20th at 19:30 MST. It’s fresh, it’s fun and it’s free! Round up some friends and join us. (Also, if you missed the last show, I’ll be rerunning it on Wed. March 17 at 7:30pm so you’re welcome to grab a green beverage and play). Zoom details for both will be posted a day or two before the show.

Hmmm...maybe it would be better if you could actually see the team names. Sorry about that!
