If you listened to this week's podcast, you will know that part of it was about how we humans need relationships. At one point in the service, Rev. Andrew stated that "No man is an island". If you would like to listen to the podcast just click on the app button above. If you would like to hear a beautiful accapella version of "No Man is an Island" - here is one by the Victoria Chorale https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycbrO9XSDwY
Sunday November 8th, Knox United will celebrate Remembrance Day with an INDOOR service. Attendance is limited to 60 so registration is required. For all the details please see the Knox United Church website. While many changes are in place due to COVID-19 precautions, it will be wonderful to meet as a congregation! http://www.knoxnepean.ca/
Sometimes history comes to us noisily - like a war or a disaster. Other times, quietly, we learn something of our history by accident! We discovered recently that Ted Shimuzu's step-mother, Hide Hyodo Shimuzu, was one of Canada's 100 heroines. Her work as an educator during the Japanese internment and her activism in seeking the vote for Japanese Canadians were only two of her accomplishments. https://www.thecanadianencyclopedia.ca//hide-hyodo-shimizu
The Quilters of Knox United have been busy despite the pandemic! Socially distanced, they have completed this GORGEOUS queen-sized quilt called Mulberry Sweet Tea. While we are not holding our Christmas bazaar, this quilt was available for purchase. It is hand-quilted, beautifully finished and a warm addition to the home! Now this beautiful creation has found a home! Thank you so much for your interest. We hope to see you next year at the Christmas Bazaar!
It is with deep sadness that we report the passing of long time member at Knox United, Alan Cameron. Alan has recently been at the Peter D. Clark Centre, but until then, he was active in many ways at Knox - especially the annual bazaar. We are thinking of Gloria and her family as they mourn his loss during these COVID times. There will be no memorial service until the later date when friends and family can gather. Leslie Cameron brought both Alan and Gloria to Craft group the past few years. We loved having them with us and appreciated the 100's of pairs of mittens they contributed to the bazaar! To Gloria, Leslie and the whole family we send our condolences. https://ottawacitizen.remembering.ca//alan-cameron-1080504
We are so sad to report the passing of one of our long time members, Margaret Friesen. Please keep her husband Laurie and his family in your prayers. As per Margaret's request a graveside service with family only took place at Beechwood Cemetery. You will remember Margaret's beautiful smile whenever she and Laurie attended worship services and other events at Knox United. https://ottawacitizen.remembering.ca//hazel-friesen-108084

A wonderful rendition of When the Saints Go Marching In! This choir came to join us on October 26, 2013! Lift your spirits on this Thanksgiving Day by singing along at home in with this wonderful group.
Yesterday, for the first time since March, we had an outdoor church service at Knox! Wind notwithstanding, it was just wonderful to be together. We were delighted to have our student minister, Junior Smith and his daughter,Ruth, with us for a special presentation. Linda Holmes and Reverend Andrew Jensen presented Junior with a handmade stole and a handcrafted cross along with the good wishes of the congregation. After ordination, Junior will be able to wear the beautiful rainbow stole (made by Parminder Bilkthu) which is white on the reverse side and can be used for weddings, baptisms and funerals. The cross, of silver and garnet, (made by Mrs. Jensen, Rev. Andrew's mother) can be worn immediately! COVID has made the whole process of studying for the ministry more complicated; we wish Junior every success along his journey.
