November 15 service CANCELLED: as Halton enters the red "control" zone of Ontario's COVID-19 system, Knox Acton has decided to cancel our church service tomorrow. We must be proactive in our responsibilities to our congregation and our community. Session will meet this Wednesday for further consideration. Please contact George Henderson, if any questions, comments, or concerns. We share here the service that would have been, with guest preacher Dianne Douglas on "Making Good Use of Our Talents." We will share Rev. Dr. Sarah Travis's online worship material tomorrow.

The Session of Knox Acton has decided not to hold in-person services until Halton is out of the Ontario government's Red Zone for control of COVID-19. This Sunday, November 22, is the Reign of Christ, the last Sunday of the Christian calendar. Next Sunday, the church begins a new year with Advent in anticipation of the birth of the Christ Child. At this portal of change, as we enter a season of wait, may we be blessed with hope, strength, and patience.

Today, congregations around the globe celebrate World Communion Sunday. The tradition began in 1933 by a Dr. Kerr, who ministered in a Presbyterian church in Pennsylvania, in attempt to bring churches together so that everyone might know how each congregation is interconnected. Since then, the effort has grown into an international ecumenical celebration of Christian unity. The key word for World Communion Sunday is communion--or unity--even in the mist of a diversity of lan...guages and traditions. The table is set for all. Just as bread is made, not from one grain, but from many; and wine is made, not from one grape, but from a full harvest; so too, we, who are many, are made one in Christ. Even if today in the midst of wise health advisories, we could not partake in the sharing of the bread and wine, yet we could partake in the sharing of our gifts. The offering is an important part of the offertory, in preparation of the Table for all. In this sense of our unity, and in honour of World Communion Sunday, we share the hymn #540, One bread, one body.

"Grow, Nourish, Sustain. Together." The theme of togetherness is strong in the United Nations World Food Day 2020, as we deal with the effects of the global COVID-19 pandemic. It’s a time to look into the future that we need to build together and to recognise the need to support our food heroes - farmers and workers throughout the food system - who are making sure that food makes its way from farm to fork. https://youtu.be/KQZFqakBw04
