This large, multi-purpose island is the perfect spot to entertain...even if the guest list only includes the people that you live with for now. *sigh* Islands have become the hub of the kitchen, and are almost always a must when designing the new space. Single level, multi-use islands (like this one) create an impact, make a statement and serve many functions. This island is equipped with power, plumbing, storage, appliances, and seating. And can be used for serving, prepping, eating, entertaining, and more!

OUT 2020 and with that...we are also saying goodbye to this kitchen (and basically the entire home interior) after a full year of planning! Cozy season calls for fireplace inspo

When I was younger, I wasn’t allowed to watch the show Roseanne because my mom thought IT was giving me an attitude... Did anyone else have random rules like this in their house growing up, that you just laugh at now!?

Another kitchen, another @pearl.sinks faucet! The AMELIA rose gold faucet had the perfect amount of class and warmth to compliment this black and white design.

Go a little crazy! Mix and match the cabinet hardware in your kitchen if you want to! I did it here, and it made the island look like a completely customized piece of furniture! This would also be great if you fall in love with an expensive piece of hardware (it happens, trust me!) that might blow the budget if used everywhere! You can still enjoy it in the space as a feature this way! #SmartDesign #DesignTip

Hardly checking out my own reflection in this mirror. Instead, I cant stop staring at that shower wall! Such a simple tile, but the texture and gloss create such a calming look...like waves in water!

TGIFreakingF!!!! #WeekendGoals : sleep in on Sunday! Anyone else with me on this one!?

This is what really gets me going in the morning! What a combo! Am I right!? Oh how I have been waiting to visit this master bathroom project! I couldnt help but snap a few pictures (even though its not quite 100 percent complete yet)! Anyone else think they might be #brave with their finishes!? My client put full trust in me when she showed me this floor tile that she loved, but was unsure how it should be used in the space - I think we did it, dont you!?

Sometimes we plan, and sometimes we have to think on our toes and make last minute changes. This finished view is going to look a little different than what we had originally planned for, and I am not mad about it! Because of #COVID19 we had some unexpected items to add into the scope, which was really the perfect time to do so! But in order to stay on budget, some of the more higher priced finishes originally selected had to go! No biggie though, when you work with a great team like the one @orange.design.build put together, the new design will be just as good, if not better! Cant wait to finish this one up, and show it off!

Rant: What a crazy time to be a business owner! Ups, downs, adapting, crying!!! Although I am very fortunate to be in an industry thats busy-of course there...s always going to be challenges. Im disgusted by ruthless landlords (more on this later) and big corps and banks and Im even disgusted by the City of Ottawa and its by-law enforcement whom are still capitalizing on monthly permit fees to advertise curbside that we are back in business (5 days a week). Colour crushing on the blue interior of these oversized pendants! They were just perfect in this IT office / open-concept kitchenette!

The spoon and knife were in a fight about who was right, so the fork left. I always remember this saying when setting a place at the table. Its an easy reminder that forks belong on the left of the plate, and the knife and spoon on the right.

Space might be limited, but the design doesnt have to be! Use any opportunity you can for extra storage, like we did in this custom banquette seating!

Saturdays used to be for sharing charcuterie with friends. Reminiscing over this last one I enjoyed! We Brie-long together! Can we eventually share assorted cheese in a group setting again soon please!? (...and thats the cheesiest caption I could think of)!

Staying in probably has you using the spaces in your home differently than you used to. The garage may become your gym , the bathroom might become your break room , your kitchen is the new lunch room , and your basement could be your new local hangout !! I know some of you have been dreaming up new ideas for your home (and might even be taking these projects on yourselves!) I am so proud to be apart of the Ottawa design community! We all wanted to share this message and make sure you are enjoying the spaces you spend so much time in (especially right now)! A beautiful combination

Hey Friends! Is it just me or is today going by really slow?! Eventually we will look back on this time where we were forced to slow down and appreciate what and who we have in our lives. Although, I am not going to lie, the sunny days are especially hard to think about having to stay in!... BUT I know that life cant, and wont stop forever. So if you have to put plans on hold for now, be ready to start back up with them as soon as we can! Do your best, and dont be too hard on yourself if your not at your top game during a freakin pandemic! I keep having to remind myself this when I feel distracted, disconnected, unmotivated, disorganized or uncreative! Instead, take this time to be present! And be thankful. Make mental and physical health your priority, and learn new ways to adapt to this lifestyle. It is okay to laugh, and have fun. Video chat with your friends and family, post on your social media! Stay in touch! Send someone flowers, or send yourself flowers [ @bloomex_canada ]! Work out at home. Read, write, plan and learn! Do nothing at all if you feel like it! Or do all the things you never had time for before! And for those of you may not have ideal situations at home, stay strong! Support those who are risking their lives during this time, and respect the protocols being put into place. I believe there is a goal, and an end in sight to this! Eventually life will get back to normal. See more

I think a sconce above the kitchen window/sink is such a bright idea!It completes the overall look, while adding an unexpected element and layer of light to the space. Some other great spots to think about placing wall sconces are above nightstands in the bedroom, beside mirrors in the bathroom, and above a fireplace mantle!

The plan was to re-use and paint the existing cabinetry in this #KitchenReno ... but there were a few modifications @onyxdesignbuild and #KODAinteriors just had to make to bring it to next level. I have mixed emotions about #Sunday this week...It is Sunday right?! Id be lying if I said I wasnt already a pro at working from home, and its actually been nice for working on designs (like this custom entry millwork). But a lot of my job requires going out to source materials that I need to touch, feel and see in person. For now I am thankful for my need to take pictures of every material I like (even when it is not what I am looking for at the time) because I now... have a library of photos to source and share with my clients, from the comfort of my home! Have you had to adjust your routine a lot during this time? Or have you realized youve been living that quarantine life without even knowing it!? Are you someone who is going stir-crazy? Or are you crazy content with staying in? Talk to me people....seriously...Im bored . See more

Simple but significant

You wont find any jokes or puns about COVID-19 here because its really not a laughing matter. But with all the hype over TP right now, this does seem like the perfect time to chat bidets! Believe it or not, we dont actually need toilet paper to survive...water is your friend! Bidets are better for the budget, better for the environment and better for your hygiene! Bidets are not something I source often, but I wonder if this sustainable alternative to wipes and paper will be something more people will consider including in their bathroom reno updates now! Have you ever used a bidet? Are they common where youre from?

Feeling pretty cool at 4000K! *wink, nudge* ...Okay, I might have to explain this one. Ever come home with a replacement bulb that is way more yellow than the rest!? Tell me you havent walked into a kitchen or bathroom and turned on the lights only to feel like your about to be interrogated! Lightbulbs (also called lamps) actually have options for light temperatures ranging around 2000K - 6500K (Holy flashback to lighting class). This temperature of the bulb can make ...a huge impact on the overall feeling in the space! 4000K happens to be a cooler bulb with a more energetic feel and will make whites look brighter. Mainly used for commercial spaces like offices or waiting areas. SO...heres to shining brighter and keeping the energy up with 4000K #InstaFriends! Thanks everyone, for following along! See more

You dont have to spend a lot of $$$ to get the look you want. These simple, over-sized pendants from @ikeacanada were exactly what I was looking for to complete the look in this kitchen!

Are we for or against clear glass cabinets? I feel like with @homesensecanada around, we all have such pretty kitchen accessories that its nice to display some of them without cluttering the counters! Glass cabinets allow for this, and provides endless possibilities to change up the look!

X marks the spot where youll find this modern farmhouse kitchen! Its one of my favourites to date (yes...I say this after every project finishes up). But I am really feeling the light blue cabinets with the wood flooring and gold finishes! Now, after seeing this, would you be willing to add subtle colour like this into youre home?

Oh hey March! Not going to lie, I hardly noticed you roll in! #TimeFlies I have some amazing projects happening right now and will be focusing on these over the next month or two!
