At the end of the day, our Kodawari mindset is car enthusiasts looking to make positive changes in the car community by how we run our business. Hopefully with the work we do and the content we put out, it will inspire others who might be stuck in that 9 to 5, to seek out their passions. Taking that leap of faith in building a life around their passions, and having that feeling of excitement to work on something that keeps you awake at night is the sort of thing we want to do.

Another TBT Story time As you all know, a lot of what we do in terms of aesthetics draws a lot of influence from Japan. There are companies like Varis and Spoon that operate out of really small facilities but the amount of products and the power of their brand leads you to believe that they have a big team and big shop. When we found 100 Emby drive, we tried to draw inspiration from those small shops doing really excellent things. The mezzanine used to be a room built out ...from the original building with a barn door that opened into the shop. Our master carpenter Brant, suggested that maybe we build out a mezzanine because parking space is important to car shops and we wanted to make the most out of the facility. The mezzanine is easily our favourite shop transformation. A lot of energy went into making the stairs from scratch, laying in Swiss Trax to match our shop flooring, and building out a room with proper support. It’s something that we’re very proud of and are continuing to change this space by turning it into a dedicated podcast studio. Our dream is to have the mezzanine fully sound treated so that we can can record and film, while servicing cars downstairs.

We finally have more PPF installations underway and having already wrapped one GS, this was a chance to compare challenges. Thankfully the paint was in good condition already, so we did a quick one stage polish on the hood and fenders in preparation for the film install. Some of the main challenges with PPF is finding the right spot to start, pulling techniques, bubbling, and cutting film. With this second GS we had a much easier time with the bulk hood install because we started laying from the center outwards and it gave us much better control. It’s also helps to have the right partner to work on such a detailed job like @kodawari.dave & @itsdistebs

We recently had an opportunity to get this IS250 #Kodafresh. The front end was pitted with stone chips from years and years of highway driving. This is a big reason why we recommend installing PPF on high impact areas if you want to preserve your paint. The entire vehicle received a multi-stage polish, finished off with a ceramic coat of Gtechniq EXO + CSL. Brand new side-mirrors were installed since the old ones were corroded and beyond repair.

TBT story time! Car culture, modifying cars, making friends through a shared passion has always brought so much happiness in my life. I would find myself watching Chris Harris’ driving videos with a biggest smile on my face, to see him travelling the world, driving the coolest cars, and having fun was a life worth dreaming about. Sherry and I live in a townhouse so 1+1 is all we have, so more garage space has always been a dream. Just for fun, I asked my realtor friend Mint...u, to check our area for any commercial units available. I still remember that call when Mintu said "I think I've found a pretty cool spot really close to where you guys live." At this point in time I was consuming a lot of content from @ObsessedGarage. I followed Matt as he quit his regular day job to pursue building his own brand. Building his own life. We went to go see the property but it didn't really click right away. It was super dingy and smelled like dog urine because the previous tenant owned a doggy daycare. We saw a few other units but kept coming back to 100 Emby of how close it was to the Streetsville area. I've always loved the process of taking an old space and transforming it whether it was my bedroom or my car builds. I let my imagination run wild at what the space could potentially look like with Matt's curated line of tools and equipment. It was at that point I took the leap of faith, knowing that I wasn't fully prepared to tackle this project, knowing that this was an extremely ambitious challenge. I reminded myself of a quote that @TimFerriss has in his house to remind him of how beautiful life can be if you're willing to do what most people are afraid to do. "Life shrinks or expands in accordance to one's courage" I mustered up the courage and signed the lease papers. Continued in the comments

MEET THE TEAM: Steban (@itsdistebs) You would probably think he works on media at KC because of his background in film, but Steban actually works as a detailer and PPF installer. Many of you also know Steban as @hooded.productions on Instagram. As he continues to film on the side, working on cars has always been a passion he wanted to pursue. Steban found that Kodawari aligned with his values and eventually sent an email.... Steban is a big Nissan enthusiast. His favourite car is a Nissan Skyline R34. In his spare time you can usually find him working late at the shop or cruising with the homies.

At KC, we're always looking for new ways to invest in the company and improve company culture. We've set the first full day of each month dedicated to running different exercises and training. It will be a day where everyone is given an opportunity to learn more of what goes on in each department, brainstorm ideas for content and come up with new strategies. These pictures showcase David walking the team through how we assess customer vehicles in preparation for a detail service. It was awesome to see our group of eight so eager to learn and try new things. Let us know if you guys enjoy this kind of BTS content!

We finally got the k20/k24 motor back into this fa5/fd2! This motor used to belong in @nauza219’s CSX Type S. Now we’re bringing her spirit back to life by putting it into @shrylucy’s Civic Si. Thank you to Jon and his team at @limitlessmotorsports.ca for helping with the motor swap. We hope you’re just as excited to see her back up and running! Next step for this build: back to the bodyshop where our friend, Tony (@Turbotony.paintworkz) will be adding some finishing touches to the paint. Does anyone have any recommendations on how we can fix this titanium exhaust tip?

Normally we would recommend having the tires already mounted but I think Edwin just wants to display these in his house before spring hits (We would do the same thing too).
