Hello Kodokwai Parents and Athletes. We are moving forward with the reopening plan of the Judo Club. Our goal is, as stated before, to be in the dojo first week of October. We will be running two classes to start twice per week. The days and times will be posted in the next few days as we finalize things with the YMCA. The first thing we need to do is pre-register for the season. The YMCA has provided a link below. Thank you for your patients as we navigate through th...is difficult time. https://mailchi.mp/898f2a13c225/come-to-the-y Jim Karas
Jan assinated the Judo dummy!
The Kodokwai Judo Club would like to thank Alliance Building Maintenance (alliancecleaning.ca) for donating a pair of buckets and mops to help us disinfect the Judo Mats between each session. With COVID19 there are extra measures we must take to ensure our athletes remain healthy upon our return to Judo. Thank you Sean and Jack for making this happen!
We will be posting an in-depth letter on our facebook page within the next week. This letter will detail our return to Judo policy, Class times and protocol. Our goal is to be in the dojo and back to Judo the first week of October. Thank you for your patience. I hope to see everyone soon. Jim Karas
It is with great sadness that we are sharing the news that Kurtis Johnson has passed away due to a drowning accident. Kurtis has been a member of our club since... 2016. He received his shodan in june of 2019. He had become a strong supporter of the club, running the thursday technical classes, taking athletes to various tournaments and camps. He coached our athletes at many of the provincial tournaments. His wife, Angela, and 2 kids, Kayla and Kohen all do judo and we hope they can continue to be with the judo family. Kurtis's sister has started a Gofundme page for those wishing to donate to the family. https://www.gofundme.com/f/kurtis-johnson-memorial-fund Kelly Thornton
No time to quit!
I just wanted to let our membership know that we are currently working on a re-opening strategy. Our location is currently closed and we do not anticipate the YMCA opening until late September. Please understand that the reopening of the Kodokwai Judo Club is our priority. As soon as we have more details we will share them with you.

Hello Kodokwai Members. I hope that everyone is doing their best through this difficult time. We will be trying some outdoor sessions starting Monday June 15th 7PM at the field outside of the YMCA. This session will be open only to competitive athletes 12 years old and up. You must text or call me to confirm your attendance prior to the session as there is a limit to the number of athletes. My cell number is 780 554 6441. This is not a continuation of the Judo season n...or is this a return to Judo to finish the season. Judo Alberta his given us some guidelines and we are trying to navigate them and bring some type of competitive Judo Training back into our lives. Please arrive with runners, Judo Gi top and water bottle. If you have some rubber tubing or ouchi-komi elastics please bring them with you. JIm Karas
