Reposted from @cucabolical My new house had a wet basement - part of the solution was moving earth from a knoll out back to change the grade so water flows away from the house & not towards it. That knoll will be the site of a future orchard, so I unearthed the blue beast, a BCS 749 diesel walk behind to help me smooth out the patch where I scooped the soil from - and it still starts like a charm And of course I had to throw down a cocktail, so today's menu included sunflo...wer, tillage radish & white clover - hope it's not too early! #kolaporegardens @kolaporegardens #covercropcocktail #urbanorchard #isthisurban #villageorchard #eugenia

Hi! I've been quietly busy, building garden beds and filling greenhouses with seedlings, but I thought I should include a brief update and share some photos! I'm happy to report that I have assembled what is feeling like a top notch team - and for the first year ever, everyone commutes to work - this had made early mornings and evenings precious periods of near silence around the farm, which is always welcome. Headwaters Academy has confirmed children at the Beaver Valley Community School will be accepting our first donated chicken coop, complete with chickens, etc. ...The children are also running for pledges as well so that we might be able to meet our goal of giving the coop, chickens, feed, etc., this academic year.
