In honor of Earth, we'd like to take a minute (or 20) to share some tips on how we, at Kong Law, do our part to care for Her. Waste production is a big part of being any regular human, and if we're not vigilantly conscious of our every day consumption choices; we end up disposing of far more waste than we ever ever EVER need to! It's important to remember that mostly ev-er-y-thing we consume 'never' just magically disappears, especially when waste products are synthetic, plas...Continue reading

It's an interesting question with an answer that's increasinglyconvoluted with the rise in automated legal services. While there's certainly a place and time for automation; at Kong Law we believe that nothing can take the place of good sound human-borne judgment. Yes, we're constantly thinking of ways we can automate our services to save ourselves and therefore our clients on costs, but no matter how great the possibilities of automation are; every client is different and t...he best service will always be the customized kind. Lawyers traditionally go through rigorous training to learn how to make good judgment; to discern good facts from bad facts; to make efficient, effective, and at times, eloquent arguments; to know what is in your 'best' interest and to be able to articulate the same with precision, simplicity and clarity. Every day we hone our fluency in the language of logic and reason and with a daily practice of analyzing different fact patterns; we only get better at it every day. That well-practiced judgment, discernment and articulation of a lawyer can mean all the difference between sufficiently covering your ass(ets) or risk losing everything. As lawyers, we're in the business of risk mitigation, conflict prevention and loss avoidance, and so it's our imperative that we create catered solutions for you that willalwayscost youlessthan not employing the solution at all. --- On that note, we'd like to share that we're launching a pilot project for flat fee legal services. It's become increasingly apparent that billing by the hour discourages good communication between client and lawyer, and doesn't necessarily create the incentive or an environment for high quality and efficient work. If anyone is interested in participating in this program, at a discounted rate, we'd love to speak with you and hear your valued thoughts! There are a number of factors of which we consider in a flat fee, which we would be happy to discuss with you.

In law, no one is allowed to speak or act on one’s behalf without permission. That’s why giving permission today is important if you suddenly die or become disabled. Failing to execute documents which give this permission means: 1)You allow someone to represent your interests whom you may not prefer;... 2)Your preferred wishes for the care and distribution of your assets or the appointment of guardians are never provided; and 3)You put family through the "headache" of being appointed through the court system (when they're likely already grieving ) The expected $1,000-$1,500 fee is a small price to pay for peace of mind concerning 'everything' you care for. It’s like an insurance policy protecting your best wishes and your family. Book your 'First Consultation' atwww.kong-law.com/calendarto learn more.

I might be premature in posting this as the Law Society is taking their sweet time on some matters, but I can't wait any longer.... !! I wish to officially welcome to the team, Ms. Sarah Abbott @ssolom02 , Kong Law's newest and first Articling Student! *Cue the confetti and french horns!*... Words can barely express how exciting it is that Sarah's joining forces with me! In the few days we've worked together, she's weighed in on current matters like a seasoned pro and takes notes like a legit ninja! I can't believe this Superstar effortlessly landed in my lap. There's a very promising future ahead for her, and luckily for KL too by virtue of her choosing to work with us. Sarah, I'm stoked to see what we can bring to this community and what we can build together with this business. I can tell you are talented beyond measure and I'm so excited to see you grow into your OWN lawyer more and more every day. For the record, I'll continue to work directly with all clients, however Sarah will be my shadow for the next bit! Trust me, you'll very much appreciate this brilliant mind in the room! Here are our *best* attempts to take some photos of us with KL's office mascot, @frangthedang.

Today on International Woman's Day, I recognize and appreciate the *power* of the female heart & mind. I believe my female instincts make me a better lawyer and a business owner overall. As a solicitor running my own practice and making big decisions as to how ‘I’ (a woman) would ideally want to serve my clients, I am increasingly understanding the power and positive influence that healthy emotional connections have on ‘the bottom line’. It’s an unconventional way of analyzin...g what I do, but I think we need to recognize that we are human beings first, before legal terms on a page. When I ask myself what is the ultimate goal of disputing parties or newly formed partnerships? That ultimate goal (i.e., minimal cost, fair dealing & happy clients) is achieved most successfully when people 'actually' care for each other. A legal agreement built on compassion and shared interests means people feel respected and heard, working towards mutual success and looking out for each other. In other words, the strength of that 'female-driven empathic emotional connection' is just good business to me! And not only for the bottom line, but for overall human happiness and the Planet as a whole. As the Dalai Lama said, "I believe that women are more empathetic and sensitive to the feelings of others, qualities I first learned from my loving mother. There is also scientific evidence that when it comes to compassion, women are more sensitive to others pain. Therefore, I feel that if more of our leaders were women, the world would be a more peaceful and understanding place." I wish you a wonderful International Woman’s Day celebrating all the bad-ass, rad-ass QUEEEENS in your life, including yourself! Much Love and Respect always, Queen Kong

Happiest New Year, Friends! And by "happiest", I mean we've literally never been happier to see a new year. If no one's done this for you yet, please give yourself a big *pat on the back* because, "Congratulations, YOU FRIGGIN DID IT!" ... Generally speaking, this worldtends to err on the side of criticism and judgement, when there's always just as much or more to congratulateand appreciate. This was a tough year for all involved and we arguably made more history with our collective show of resilience and tenacity, than we did our poor decisions. In exercising my own choice of perspective, I like to make note of the latter, but primarily focus on the former. We did so well and we'll absolutely get through this bigger, better and stronger than ever. From a personal or business perspective, 2020 was a pretty successful year for Kong Law. I managed to keep my clients, my business and myself HAPPY. I owe a lot of that success to respecting each client that I serve, and myself. Respect goes a long way in carving out the right communication and actions to others and to yourself. And the best part is; it always returns in spades! As a part of that respect for myself, I decided to cut off new business requests mid December 2020 (where most lawyers probably wouldn't?) to avoid my own burn-out and bad service to others. I needed to give myself the space to slow down and relax over the holidays so I could feel sufficiently refreshed to start again in 2021. From business owner to business owner, exercising your own personal balance is never a bad business decision and saying 'NO' to others for this reason will always be empowering. I'm so happy I gave myself the holiday I needed and deserved, so I can continue to give you my BEST. So here I am, back at it and more ready than ever. I'm excited for 2021 and what's to come. I'm excited to meet new clients, continue to work with existing ones, support new business endeavors and help protect your hard earned assets with good documentation, communication and legal advice. It feels good to help and I hope you find good value in what I offer. Thank you again for your continued business. 2021, Here We Come!

It's been quite the year for Kong Law and I'm filled with gratitude for all my new and continuing clientele. THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for trusting me with your business and personal legal needs. I do regret having to make this announcement, but customer service remains paramount to my business model and so I'm left with limited choice. If only there were more hours in a day!
