Maybe it’s the new decade, maybe it’s just the nature of business, but I have been doing a lot of thinking, reading and planning! I have been fortunate to have landed some great projects, cultivated incredible relationships and have grown this little business of mine. I have also made mistakes and found areas of improvement. I always take the opportunity to look at a situation or process and dissect it to determine why it is not successful. I then fix it.... What I have learned over this past year is that for my business model to be successful I need to secure projects that I can properly support from start to finish. I need to focus on the EXPERIENCE, not just the output. I had an ah-ha moment while at Starbucks a while back that really got me thinking about the client experience and how small steps can make a big impact. Well, it’s that time of year again. Not sure how that came around so quickly! We’d like to take this opportunity to wish you all a wonderful holiday season. We will be taking some time to disconnect from the hustle and bustle to reconnect with family and friends. Likely overindulging in food, unwrapping way too many gifts and trying to find creative storage solutions to house them all.... Merry Christmas to all those who celebrate! At my recent visit to @braamscustomcabinets , I came across this stunning kitchen and fell in love with the leathered marble counter! Did you know that stone surfaces come in a variety of finishes? Although polished surfaces are used most frequently, there are other options to consider, such as honed and leathered. Leathered surfaces have more texture and rustic appeal. They are also known to tighten the natural pores of the stone which help to mitigate damage done through sp...illage, which also reduces the likelihood of staining! Although it’s not ideal for every application, a leathered finish is definitely something to consider as a way to add character and depth to your stone. The leathered effect is available in marble, granite and quartz.

The right combination of shape, colour and form are key to creating a balanced and beautiful space. Environment has a direct impact on well being, as such, a well designed space can be so much more than just aesthetically pleasing. Design can influence your mood, productivity and social interactions.

#PROJECTBIRCHWOOD Update! Demo is underway for this main floor renovation in #Aldershot. The revised kitchen layout expands into the current dinning room, allowing for a larger and more functional kitchen, additional storage space AND a built-in desk area. The dining room will now be located on the other side of the kitchen. We were able to plan in all the little pieces that the client was struggling to find space for! ... I’m really looking forward to seeing this come to life soon. Stay tuned for progress photos!

Sourcing wallpaper for a few key areas at #PROJECTSEATON and loving all four of these collections! These wallpapers are handcrafted by artisans, composed of materials such as wood, hemp and silk. The patterns are generally subtle, but with the right architecture and finishes, any of these will bring depth and warmth to the space. Let's be honest, who likes a bare wall anyway? ... Do you believe this to be true? When it comes to design, sometimes simplicity is best. My design approach is timeless and classic. I believe in creating spaces that can stand the test of time. With a classic backdrop, the space can always be re-invented through paint, artwork and accessories!

Sourcing stone for #ProjectBirchwood and realizing that the stone selection process can be difficult for clients to navigate. There are so many different types of products to choose from. Trying to figure out which one is right for your project can be a tough decision, so here is a quick summary! Marble and Granite are both natural stone products. Granite is a harder stone in comparison to marble, but, typically less expensive. There may be some exceptions to this rule, but f...or the most part, both products need to be sealed annually. Both granite and quartz have an enormous selection of patterns and colours to choose from, but because it is a natural stone, there are variations from piece to piece (or slab to slab). Quartz is an engineered product that is non-porous, and therefore does not require sealer. It’s patterning is also more consistent, basically what you see in a sample is what you will get. Also, when fabricated locally, it is more environmentally friendly than natural stone products. Quartz is typically more expensive than granite, but less expensive than marble.
