The town of Nelson BC has existed since the late 1880s. The town began because of resource extraction that clear-cut the hillsides around where the town exists ...now so that mining could take place. It may have looked like a bleak place at the time. But at the same time, people began planting deciduous trees to replace the coniferous within town limits and over a century later the community is blanketed with an orange glow this time of year.
