You know how to fouetté and jeté the day away...but do you know what directors are really looking for when they’re hiring dancers? And what about once you land ...the job...do you know what it’s like working with a professional costume department? Or how to apply the perfect stage makeup that will last through a long performance? What about how to work with live musicians and be a more musical dancer? If you’re an aspiring professional ballerina, you need to know this information. And I’ve got four AMAZING women in the field to educate you! Join The Brainy Ballerina for The View from Backstage: a month long series of online workshops to teach you what you need to know from the professionals behind the scenes. Tune in the first four Saturdays in May @ 2pm CST to learn from the best of the best: May 1st: Jessica Winter-Troutwine, professional makeup artist/licensed esthetician and founder of Beautifully Balanced Makeup Artistry May 8th: Nancy Paradis, artistic director of LA Dance Moves and adjunct professor at Moorpark College May 15th: Lorel Leal, accompanist for Alberta Ballet and founder of Lorel Leal; The Barre Pianist May 22nd: Marissa McCullough, dance costume shop director at University of North Carolina School of the Arts : https://www.eventbrite.com/o/the-brainy-ballerina-320621640

I find it incredible, and exciting the works that are being produced. Amazing and innovative. Technology, engineering how come so far. Wow. I would have loved to have hung upside down on a chair or table!

I have a former student who absolutely loves dance. She has always been a shining light to those who know her. She is strong and empowers others to be the best that they can be. I have watched her thriving and blossoming for so many years now and I am always amazed by her tenacity and will to move forward no matter the powers that be, that stand in her way, our way as humans. Shine on beautiful Hollie. Take a look at her recent journey at rojoouterwear.com Look at you! She is eloquent and beautiful yet those eyes tell of our human spirit. Thanks for sharing you!

Last year, at this time, KDW had its debut of the Nutcracker. It was a vision that was a long time coming but we did it with ease and grace. We had so much support from the community, our small businesses, from our dancers, and our parents, our photographer, Lesley Chisholm, our videographer, Fred Bird, the Charles Bailey staff who were amazingly patient, Halls Printing - the list is truly endless. Wow. It was a surreal time and the 'buzz' was real. Shout out to Maureen Duggan, and her incredible staff @ The Dance Gallery for supporting our endeavours by donating an assortment of beautiful costumes for our performance (and for others!). We look forward, at some point, in sharing the magic again. In the meantime here are some beautiful photos and memories. Every single dancer performed with intention, and artistry. It was magical. Truly.

My lovely friend's father is an artist who creates beautiful jewelry. As you know, artists and small business owners have struggled though resilient during these uncertain times. If you are looking for a gift for a loved one please take a look. Beautiful and original. Stunning work, all hand-crafted. https://www.jvhaegenjewelry.com/collections/all?page=9
