Swirski-Mite LD for biological pest control of young larvae of various thrips species, eggs and larvae of whitefly (both Trialeurodes vaporariorum and Bemisia tabaci) and tarsonemid mites (Polyphagotarsonemus latus). Use Swirski-Mite as a preventive method and when the first signs of a pest appear. Adult predatory mites search for their prey or wait for it to pass by and subsequently feed on their prey. #partnerswithnature #koppertbiologicalcontrols #koppertcanada #IPM #biocontrol #cropprotection #cleancrops #bios #goodbugs #beneficialinsects #cloudsovercanada #swirski #swirskimite #whitefly #thrips

What are breeder sachets? Breeder sachets are specialized, formulated, climate resistant envelopes containing a mix of predator mites, prey mites and carrier, which act as localized breeding systems to continually rear and release predator mites into your crop. The sachets are sealed to maintain an ideal breeding environment for beneficial mites inside, with a pre-punched exit hole to slowly release them into the crop over a period of weeks. What happens to predators once my pest is gone? Predatory bugs, when applied to the crop actively search for pests. If there are none in the crop or they have consumed them all they will die roughly within 1-2 weeks with no food source. #koppertbiologicalcontrols #koppertcanada #cropprotection #cleancrops #crops #cannabis #cloudsovercanada #biocontrol #sachet #partnerswithnature #predatorymites #pests

Mycotal is used for the biological pest control of whitefly larvae in tomato crops. Mycotal must be used in early growth stages of the crop and when pest numbers are low. For effective control, implement up to 4 applications per whitefly outbreak, at 7-10 day intervals. Mycotal is effective through direct contact, and under the right environmental conditions, kills larvae after 7-10 days. Applications must target larvae and pupae. After spraying, the spores germinate and grow..., producing hyphae that penetrate the body cavity, where they proliferate, destroying the tissues. The fungus then grows through the insect cuticle and produces spores on the outside of the cadaver, which may spread the infection to other whitefly. Visit our website to learn more about Mycotal---> https://www.koppert.ca/mycotal/. #mycotal #biocontrol #whitefly #partnerswithnature #koppertbiologicalcontrols #koppertcanada #cropprotection #cleancrops #tomato

We get a lot of questions about whether you can use predatory mites in low relative humidity rooms. All of our predatory mites work fine in these conditions. It is important to remember there is a micro climate on the underside of leaves where predator mites live, which buffers the humidity much higher than ambient room humidity. This micro climate is called the phylloplane and is created by water vapour leaving the stomata on the underside of the leaves, so the mite is largely protected against low humidities. #biocontrol #stayintheloupe #partnerswithnature #koppertbiologicalcontrols #koppertcanada #IPM #biocontrol #cropprotection #cleancrops #bios #goodbugs #ladybugs #beneficialinsects #predatorymites #cloudsovercanada

Spotted and Striped Cuke Beetles These easy to distinguish pests can not only leave holes in leaves and bite marks in your cucumbers, but they can also spread bacterial diseases and viruses from plant to plant such as Bacterial Wilt or Mosaic Virus. It’s a good practice to get rid of them ASAP by drenching chemically and trapping with sticky cards as well. Ask your Koppert Consultant for more information. #koppertcanada #beetles #koppert #ipm #beneficialinsects #pests #partnerswithnature #biocontrol

Ladybugs are very common to hear about in pest control, as they are a generalist predator. We specifically sell them for control in Aphid hotspots only. This is because they do not effectively control anything other than Aphids. The female will search out for aphid colonies and lay her eggs in small batches on the leaves relatively close to these colonies.Once the eggs hatch, the larvae will begin consuming aphids. One Lady Bug can consume several thousands of aphids during its lifetime. #stayintheloupe #partnerswithnature #koppertbiologicalcontrols #koppertcanada #IPM #biocontrol #cropprotection #cleancrops #bios #goodbugs #ladybugs #beneficialinsects #predatorymites #cloudsovercanada

Our improved formulation makes sure our predatory mites have an energetic start and are better capable of travelling the given distance. In a bottle of Spidex Vital a more diverse population composition is present, so when applied in hotspots the adults are followed up by the growing nymphs and also Spidex eggs that are present will hatch amidst the appropriate food source. These factors combined give an increased hotspot control in your crop. Talk with one of our consultants... today or visit us at www.koppert.ca or purchase products through our webshop link in bio. Aphids are introduced into gardens by winged colonisers which quickly lay eggs on new plants they wish to colonise. While it’s always best to prevent a pest infestation than control one, aphids can be particularly hard to prepare against. Aphids can usually be seen on the leaves and stems of cannabis plants. Green varieties may be harder to spot. They especially like hiding on the underside of leaves, away from direct sight. We can help! www.koppert.ca

The predatory mite Phytoseiulus persimilis is an effective natural enemy of spider mite. Koppert was the first company that introduced this natural enemy. The adult predatory mite feeds on all stages of spider mite, and although the larva does not eat, the nymphs eat the eggs, larvae and protonymphs of spider mite. Although the mite cannot see, it can detect webs produced by spider mites through touch and leaf damage by scent. When Phytoseiulus finds its prey it sucks out its contents, leaving only the empty skin. The high predation rate on spider mites and its fast development makes Phytoseiulus very effective as a biological control agent. More information about the natural enemy Phytoseiulus persimilis (SPIDEX): www.koppert.ca .

"A REVOLUTION IN CROP PROTECTION" How does Spidex Boost work? Phytoseiulus persimilis feeds on all stages of spider mites, but has a preference for eggs. The predatory mites pierce the eggs and consume the contents. Adult Phytoseiulus persimilis also attack adult spider mites but the smaller development stages only feed on smaller prey stages. The larvae do not eat. The predatory mite can only survive on two spotted spider mites (Tetranychus spp.). Other than Koppert slow-re...lease products (sachets), Spidex Boost does not contain a rearing system which produces several generations of predatory mites over time. Hive placements in the greenhouse are extremely important. Here are a few quick tips for your greenhouse! One, make sure hives are close to the main walkway, as this is their runway. Two, make sure the entrance of the hive is clearly visible to the bumblebees. Three, make sure hives are not placed in direct sunlight. Four, make sure hives are not placed on the ground, as ants and other insects will go after the sugar water. Five, protect hive from all other elements (water leakage), and finally do not remove the cardboard door covering the hive. The bees will chew through this and it protects you from getting stung during the initial install.
