It's moreso important to have a keen eye and focus on the layout, design and function of a house. Consider exactly how you will be using it. Where will you entertain, sleep, cook, read, watch your favourite movie or have the kids play? Don't have kids yet? Consider a realistic length of time you'll own your home, add five more years, and ...consider how your life may change during that time. It's easy enough, and very common, for people to move after a few years if their home no longer suits their needs, but if you can afford something today that will suit your future needs for years to come you'll be further ahead financially.
