I'm Not Happy Three words that saved our marriage and love. My partner and I moved quickly. From our first date to the day we moved in together was four months. When we got engaged, we planned a wedding in just two and a half months. That day, 15 minutes before walking down the aisle, a tornado warning was issued. We've supported each other through my parent's illness and passing, job shifts, money issues and C OO Vid. All life-altering scenarios in just four short and ...very long years. We're doing it, though, and it's all because we aren't afraid to say, "I'm not happy." You may read that and think... Then why are you together? Because! Our happiness is not dependent on one another. I learned early on in our relationship that I'm responsible for my happiness, no one else. I'm responsible for communicating when he or life is not meeting my needs and knowing, it's also my responsibility when my tolerance for unhappiness has been met. Thankfully our will to communicate and hold each other through our discomfort always wins. We respect that we each have our own boundary system and that our needs shouldn't be met solely by one another. I'm not happy, lets us know; I need you to see me right now, not fix me, see and hear me. We're continually learning that our "unhappiness" seldom has to do with what the other is or isn't doing.
