TIPS FOR IN HOME FAMILY SESSIONS: - the more natural/window light the better - be conscious of clutter (hide cords, remotes, Kleenex boxes but also we can do this as needed if it’s minimal) - plan an activity (play a game, bake cookies, give the baby a bath in the kitchen sink) - wear what you are comfortable in while being conscious of colour palettes ... - feed the kids first - don’t schedule during nap time if possible - let the kids be kids (sometimes trying to direct too much ends in tears / refusal to participate) - don’t stress - feed/change your baby if you need to (this can make for cute documentary style photos) - lots of interaction between family members (kids the baby, tickle the toddler, make mom kiss dad’s cheek, etc.) I do a few shots where everyone is looking at the camera and posed but my style is largely documentary-based. I want you to look back on the photos and feel how you felt at this time in your life not remember me trying to get everyone to look at my lens. - have fun! I can’t handle the aesthetic of this session - what a dreamy palette. When planning what the fam will wear for the shoot a good starting point is to search on the big old World Wide Web ‘colour palettes’. You can mix prints and solid colours but I suggest keeping that to a minimum (this fam is a perfect example of this).
