Jacky’s passion for painting was nurtured from an early age. From the age of 5 she began accompanying her parents on frequent outings to the National Art Gallery of Canada. She quickly developed a strong preference, even at this age, for oil on canvas, landscapes and portraits. She was encouraged by her parents to begin drawing at the early age of 7 and was soon after enrolled in drawing and painting courses offered locally to promising young artists. At the age of 18, Jacky ...moved to Europe to continue her studies and be close to the works of the great masters on display in the museums of Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin and Madrid. She used every spare minute of her three years abroad to visit and explore the countryside of Europe and was forever inspired to capture the essence of village life on canvas through richly coloured and textured landscapes and streetscapes. Her paintings are bold and dramatic; her specialty is street scenes and garden landscapes. With a few brushstrokes, Jacky is able to evoke a mood and create an ambience that is truly representative of France, Italy and Canada. https://koymangalleries.com/artist/jacky-macdonald/

Now on view. Armand Tatossian (1948 - 2012) His works are known for being expressive, textured, and brightly coloured. His painting method is vigorous and intense with a generous application and richness that only oil paint can create. He preferred to work directly from nature, painting many landscapes, as well as still lifes and portraits. In 1973 he became the youngest member accepted into the Royal Canadian Academy, and he taught at Loyola College and Concordia University in Montreal. He exhibited in North America, Europe and Asia, and his work can be found in the collections of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the National Gallery of Canada and the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, among others. Tatossian died in Montreal in 2012. https://koymangalleries.com/artwork/

A Moment With: Aleksandra Savina. Alexandra Savina was born and brought up in Kiev, Ukraine and graduated from the Fine Art School and Teachers College (Department of Art). She worked as an art teacher and designer. In 2005, Aleksandra came to Canada and currently resides in Toronto. She was mesmerized by the beautiful landscapes of her new country and home, and these landscapes have become her new source of inspiration. Through her paintings, Aleksandra has explored cubic f...orms. The technique she uses to apply her paint is very original. It consists of applying the paint in a very structured and geometric fashion. Her colour composition is rich, yet subdued, enabling the maturity of this contemporary artist to shine through. Canadian nature became the most important feature of Aleksandra’s paintings. Lovely fall landscape with vibrant colors of red, deep ultramarine blue, purple, lavender and deep brown are characteristic for Alexandra’s paintings. Aleksandra Savina has been represented by Koyman Galleries for several years now and her work is still much in demand. https://koymangalleries.com/artist/aleksandra-savina/

David Grieve was introduced to oil painting at a young age. As a child, he would often accompany his mother to a group oil painting class. It was at the age of nine that he created his first oil painting and his love of creating blossomed throughout his adolescence. His landscape paintings often focus on one solitary tree standing in an open space. His technique of cropping sections allows the observer to focus more carefully on one area without taking the entire piece for granted. The use of rich, organic autumn colours represent the maturity of the tree in the cycle of life, providing the viewer with a strong sense of change, as the landscape ages and decays. The beauty found in aspects of time and change is the ever-present theme underlying the paintings he creates. https://koymangalleries.com/artist/david-grieve/
