198/365 PHEW okay so I'm feeling better after yesterday's unloading hahah. Thank you to everyone who left sweet reassuring comments and those who told me they could relate! This 365 challenge started as a sketchbook challenge, so I'm going to return to that for the next little bit and let myself play without worrying about trying to make anything "sell-able". Really had fun with these ink and watercolour dudes! . . .... #pendrawing #inkdrawing #inksketch #animalsketch #cutedrawing #watercolorpainting #mixedmedia #ballpointpenart #animalartistry #sketching #drawing #natureart #colorfulart #sketchbookdrawing #sketchbookart #cuteillustration #animalsketch #wildlifeart #animaldrawing #365daysofart #animalart #dailyart #dailypaint #dailydrawing #wildlifeillustration #instaart #instaillustration #whimsicalart #whimsical #nbart #sketchbook
197/365 The mind is a funny thing. I'm privileged to be able to do what I love every day, and yet somehow it is never that simple. Lately I've been searching for a deeper meaning with my work, trying to narrow my focus and set some concrete boundaries around the type of art I make. It's a cyclical thing that I go through, and yet each time I have these thoughts, it starts out as feeling productive. It feels like I'm finally "figuring it out". But then the task of putting m...yself into a little box becomes overwhelming and confusing and I forget that it is ENOUGH for me to paint simply because it makes me happy. . . The process of turning a passion into a livelihood doesn't come without strings. But when I start to take myself too seriously and overthink this whole amazing privilege, it becomes super debilitating. If you can relate, I'd love to hear your advice or experience in the comments! . . Anyway, lil rant, but I'm starting to feel better slowly. This whole "productivity/self-improvement" culture can be toxic af haha but I'm coming out of it. . . . #botanicalart #botanicalpainting #selfcare #fruitillustration #olives #flowerpainting #vintageaesthetic #flowerillustration #botanicalillustration #paintingprogress #paintingprocess #artexperiment #cottagecore #gouache #gouacheillustration #watercolorbotanicals #wildlifeillustration #floralillustration #goblincore #instaillustration #whimsicalart #whimsical #nbart #nbartist #frederictonnb #canadianillustrator #foodart #foodillustration #cuteart #cuteillustration
194/365 I’ve been struggling to keep up with the daily posts lately(and painting in general), not gonna lie! I think this means I am in need of another experimental phase or something! Just gonna take it easy for a little while and not worry so much about presenting something beautiful for social media everyday. Hope everyone had a lovely day! . . .... #instaartist #instaillustration #animalart #animaldrawing #sketchbookdrawing #animalsketch #vintageart #drawingtutorial #botanicalart #drawinghelp #cuteillustration #vintageaesthetic #cuteanimals #wildlifeart #wildlifedrawing #sketchbook #sketching #natureillustration #naturedrawing #lifedrawing #whimsicalart #drawingrequest #canadianillustrator #naturejournal #naturejournaling #cuteart #drawing #expeditionart #graphitedrawing #fishart

191/365 Happy Friday! Sorry I haven’t been sharing more paintings. I love juggling multiple projects at once, but it definitely means I have less time and energy for personal work. But fortunately I’m going to have LOTS of time to dedicate to nothing but personal work come this time next month!! More details soon! . . .... #botanicalart #botanicalpainting #selfcare #fruitillustration #olives #flowerpainting #vintageaesthetic #flowerillustration #botanicalillustration #paintingprogress #paintingprocess #artexperiment #cottagecore #gouache #gouacheillustration #watercolorbotanicals #wildlifeillustration #floralillustration #goblincore #instaillustration #whimsicalart #whimsical #nbart #nbartist #frederictonnb #canadianillustrator #foodart #foodillustration #cuteart #cuteillustration

89/365 Here we go, 2021! I'm excited to paint my first piece of the year once I'm back home.

Happy new year! Here are some of my favourite paintings from 2020. They're not all my biggest and most impressive, but in a few of them there is a quality I really enjoy and want to harness in future paintings, so I've included them here. Let me know which is your favourite! My focus for 2021 is completing the #365daysofart challenge, continuing to chip away at my series of local bird species, and working more on my studies. How about you?
46/365 I've had a couple people ask me how I am keeping motivated throughout this #365daysofart challenge so far so here are my tips! 1. Routine. I usually do my daily drawing/painting in the morning so it's such a habit now that I barely have to expend the mental energy to get going. Stopping for long periods between creating is a momentum killer! Plus doing it in the morning warms me up to work on bigger projects afterwards. 2. Flexibility. Of course doing anything daily ...requires a some discipline but if I'm going to do this every day for a whole year, it needs to be fun, too. So I choose whatever subject I feel like painting that day in whatever medium that appeals to me most. Experimenting is not only super fun but it helps us grow the fastest! 3. Accountability. Knowing quite a few of you guys are looking forward to my post each day keeps me going, so a huge THANK YOU to all of you who have been consistently commenting and liking my posts!
45/365 Here's a 7" wood slice completed for the @capitalartsale happening next week! I'm going to be totally cleaning out my inventory for this show, which means among some newer pieces I will also be offering a lot of older pieces at a discount! It's going to be both an in-person AND online event. Stay tuned for details!
51/365 Horse chestnuts are so weird and fascinating! What other weird botanicals should I paint?
88/365 HAPPY BDAY TO MEE Which dessert looks the yummiest? I painted myself the birthday cake today and then remembered I painted some similar desserts last year, so I thought they'd look cute all together. Can you tell I like fruity dessert?
50/365 I honestly can't resist drawing kingfishers...
44/365 This was the first day of the challenge that I genuinely didn't feel like painting BUT because of that, I ended up approaching this painting differently than I normally would and I kinda like how it turned out.
49/365 This is a very special commission that has been an absolute pleasure to work on! The wolf and song sparrow symbolize the client and their partner. I currently have no more space for commissions until the new year, but if you've got something in mind, feel free to message me and we can plan something for 2021.
43/365 I draw a lot of animals sitting pretty, so figured I was due for some action poses.
42/365 Been doing a lot of tight, precise acrylic painting this week so I wanted to unwind with a some fun chunky veggies.
