Last week Victor Lyon, from the Nishnawbe-Gamik Friendship Centre in Sioux Lookout, returned to KPDSB’s Virtual School Grade 3-8 Ojibwe classes to teach the students about the structure of traditional drum songs. Our students had already made homemade instruments from recycled material and so they were invited to play along with Victor to The Eagle Song as he sang, drummed, and showed the students some of the hand signals used while playing. Victor also showed us some of his instruments that he was gifted or made himself. We look forward to your next visit, Victor! Gichi-miigwech!
