On July 22, 2017, we were delighted to have seven residents of the Kamsack Nursing Home drop by for a visit and a tour. It was fascinating to listen to their stories they spun as they examined the different artifacts. Such a great visit! Please do come again.

We were pleased to have a total of nineteen artists attend a workshop led by artist Russell Thomas at the Museum on July 10th. Everyone had fun and learned a lot as they each painted their own rendition of The Gopher, and the day was over before you knew it. The talent we have in Kamsack is really quite exceptional! Thank you to Russell, the instructor, and to all the artists who attended. Memories will be in the pictures we captured. And thank you to Russell for his generous donation to our Museum, from the auction of his painting.

This amazing portrait of Percy Goodland was done by Russell Thomas of Fort McMurray, Alta. while attending the Kamsack Power House Museum-hosted Artist Day. The Museum is now the proud owner of this portrait. Percy Goodland first arrived in Canada from England on December 4, 1914. In Kamsack’s history, he is best remembered for being the kind owner of "Percy's Confectionery", which officially opened on June 9, 1934 and was operated by Percy for 34 years. What child can forget the jelly beans, liquorice whips, bubble gum and the jawbreakers bought with pennies and nickels under Percy's patient eye. Percy is also well remembered for his work with the Scouts and Boy Scouts organizations in Kamsack. This picture is a tribute to the memories of Percy and the generosity of the Artist, Russell Thomas.
