Good morning folks! Happy sunny Monday! Here's a lovely panel quilt pieced by my client, Diane. I'm calling it "The Handyman" quilt - can you guess why? lol! Diane decided on simple quilting so that the lovely prints in this quilt would take centre stage. All-over "gears" design in the panels with serpentine lines in the sashing and some paisleys in the outer borders was all that was needed for this lovely masculine quilt. I used Glide 40wt thread in Light Tan top and bot...tom. I'm very happy with how this quilt turned out! Thanks Diane for choosing KPQS to do your long arm quilting! Have a great day everyone! Lisa

Good morning folks! Happy Saturday! Here's another lovely little Victoria Quilt that I just finished quilting. Victoria Quilts are made by members of various quilting guilds and are gifted to local cancer patients to give comfort and warmth. This lovely quilt was pieced by a member of the Kennebecasis Valley Quilt Guild prior to coming to me for quilting. It will now go to the next member for binding and finishing. A wonderful group effort indeed! I thought this little qui...lt definitely needed some cute little dragon flies with other whimsical garden motifs to go with them. A simple little floral border finished out the quilting nicely. This quilt was done with Glide 40wt Thread in "Cotton Candy". I had a great time with this little cutie! Thanks to Lynn from the KV Quilt Guild for including me in the chain of love that goes into every Victoria Quilt! Have a great day everybody! Lisa

Good morning folks! Happy Friday!! Woot Woot!! Take a look at this gorgeous beast pieced by my client, Sandra... So stunning!! Sandra decided to go with custom quilting for this beauty to highlight all those gorgeous blocks, borders, and sashing. Lots of different quilting designs went into this quilt, all very feminine and "old-timey" to match the feel of this beauty. Feathers, Swirls, Curls, Daisies, Leaves, and Filigree designs pop with a double layer of Hobbs 80/20 ba...tting. I quilted this with Glide 40wt thread in "Linen" which looks great on the front and back! I had sooooo much fun with this gorgeous quilt! Thanks so much Sandra for trusting me with your beautiful masterpiece! Have a great day everybody! Lisa

Happy blustery Wednesday, folks!! Okay, curious minds want to know: What's the best way you've found for washing your fabric? I don't always wash my fabrics before using them, but when I do, this is the method I like use. I find folding the fabric like an accordion along the selvedge edge and safety pinning every few inches keeps the fabric from turning into a twisty stringy mess in the washing machine. When you take it out of the washer, just give it a little shake to stra...ighten everything out again. (Don't remove the pins!!) Then just toss it in the dryer. The fabric comes out nice and neat with a minimum of wrinkles. Easy peasy! Each of the bundles in the pictures is over 4 metres long. The fabric looks great and there is very little fraying on the cut edges. A quick pressing and these fabrics are ready to be cut. Woot Woot!! So how about you? Do you wash your fabrics first before using them, or wash the entire quilt when it's done? Do you have a preferred method for washing? Let's help each other out with tips and tricks!! -Lisa

Good morning folks! Happy rainy Tuesday! Next up on the long arm is this gorgeous beast. This stunning pineapple quilt was pieced by my awesome client, Cindy. Didn’t she do an amazing job in her piecing as well as picking her fabrics?!?! I love the progression from light to dark in the blocks and the white background just sets it off beautifully! This quilt is going to get some serious custom quilting. It is going to have dots to dot flowers and serpentine lines; it is goi...ng to have pebbles; it is going to have echoing ruler work; and it will have some gorgeous filigree swirls as well. There might even be a little surprise thrown in every now and again Stay tuned for more pics and maybe even a video! -Lisa

Happy Saturday everybody! I just finished quilting the first of four memorial quilts for one my dear friends, Carol. These quilts feature fabric from her dad’s plaid shirts. They will become warm reminders of a wonderful husband and father. I’m honoured to be a part of creating this lovely memory for Carol and her family. I’m so happy with how this first quilt has turned out, and I’m looking forward to getting to work on the other three.... I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend so far and are getting in a bit of R&R. -Lisa

The Glide Thread has arrived! Woot Woot!! FINALLY getting some thread in the store!! Yay!! Happy Sashing Sunday, folks! Yep, I’m back to work on the memorial plaid shirt quilts! 4 quilts and 16 throw pillows to be precise! Today I am starting the sashing. I know, that’s an awful lot of math for a Sunday! Praying that I did all my calculations correctly or there is going to be a lot of black fabric strips in the scrap pile....... I hope you are all having a lovely day and you are enjoying the sunshine... Don’t forget, this week KPQS will be closed Monday through Wednesday (Sep 21 to 23). Back to normal hours on Thursday the 24th! -Lisa

Happy Saturday folks! The Tula Quilt is all prettied up and ready to go. Yay! She's had a bath, made it through inspection, and been lint-rollered to within an inch of her life!! LOL! I really enjoyed making this big beauty. It was a bit daunting at first - 400 half-square triangles - yikes! But they went together really nicely and the quilting couldn't have gone better! And of course the coordinating pillow cases were just the icing on the cake!... I hope you've enjoyed watching this one come together. Stay tuned because I received THREE new quilts this week for custom quilting. There will be pictures and videos galore!! Woot Woot!! -Lisa

Hello FB friends! Happy Friday! Here is a little zen for your Friday morning. Turn your sound on and, for the next minute and a half, breathe deep and relax... I hope you all have scheduled some down time this weekend - you deserve it! As for me, I will be working away in the Shoppe. First on the list for when the sun comes back is to get this gorgeous quilt washed and hanging out on the clothesline. One final inspection and she will be going to her new home! Yay!... Have a great day everyone!! -Lisa

Happy Tuesday everybody! I hope you all are having a great day! I finished quiting the Tula quilt today. So pretty! I will check it over tomorrow and take it off the long arm. All that is left to do is hand sew the binding to the back of the quilt and this lovely lady will be ready for her first bath before going off to her new home! Yay! Here's a little peek at the quilting and putting on the binding. I did this quilt entirely with the ruler. With all those solid colour fabr...ics, I wanted the quilting lines to be very uniform and crisp. Took a little longer, but well worth it I think! Here's a question for the long armers out there: Do any of you put your binding on with your long arm? -Lisa
