Contemplative Prayer Experience for Lent For centuries, Christians have gathered in Lent to pray with the seven last words Jesus spoke from the cross. Each word reveals how deeply he understands our lives. He understands the challenge of forgiveness, our doubts about the afterlife, human love, abandonment, physical pain, disappointment, and self-offering. Join Gerard Booy, Multi-Faith Centre Chaplain, for a series of contemplative prayer exercises to reflect prayerfully on th...ese words. Mondays from 4:00-4:30pm (February 24 - April 6) in Birch 250 Wednesdays from 12:45 - 1:15pm (February 26 - April 8) in the Surrey Multi-Faith Centre (FIR 341). For any questions, please contact [email protected]

A big thank you to everyone who supported the Multi-Faith Centre's UN World Interfaith Harmony Week celebrations at KPU! Chaplains and student volunteers were on campus in Richmond on Tuesday, Feb 4th, and yesterday our chaplain's and student clubs hosted an Interfaith Drop-In in Surrey! It was great to connect with students and staff and discuss our event's theme which was "Harmony starts with Acceptance".

Please join us in welcoming our newest Multi-Faith chaplain, Gerard Booy! Gerard is a spiritual director, an ordained pastor, and a member of Fleetwood Christian Reformed Church. He is the father of two adult sons and a very proud grandfather. As a spiritual director offering spiritual guidance to individuals and small groups, he is passionate about accompanying others on their journeys of faith, building relationships, listening to people’s stories, and nurturing their whole...ness by helping them to live more attentively and with a deeper awareness of God’s loving presence in their lives. Prior to his work as spiritual director, Gerard worked for 27 as a lead pastor in three congregations. He has a doctorate in Old Testament studies from the University of Pretoria. Born and raised in South Africa, Gerard and his family immigrated to Canada in November 2000. In the summer, you will often find him hiking, canoeing and kayaking, or riding his bike; in the winter he mostly hibernates with a good book or by going to the symphony. Gerard is extremely eager to connect with the KPU community and will be starting his office hours on the Surrey campus in the next few weeks! If you are interested in connecting with Gerard, you can reach him at [email protected]
