This is Rudy’s dog Chinook. He is a wire haired Dachshund (Teckel). He just passed his blood tracking test 100%. Rudy hopes that Fish and Wildlife will someday allow leashed tracking Teckels to recover game animals that normally would not be found. The fear that Fish and Wildlife has, is that by having leashed tracking dogs they may be used to run down, chase or pursue wild game. This could be true with Greyhounds, Labs, Griffons etc. These breeds have big bodys and long le...gs. Teckels and Dachshunds are easier to control and handle. There would have to be rules in place like certified tracking certificates etc. Thoughts anyone? It is legal in some of Canada’s provinces already. I’m putting this out there for Rudy Krause and hoping the right people see this. It would be a great change for the fish and game laws for animal retrieval in Alberta. This would help reduce the amount of game waisted to non recovery. See more
