The Latvian Credit Union proudly announces the amalgamation of the Latvian and Estonian Credit Unions as the new Northern Birch Credit Union! Last night our members met for an information session and voted on accepting the amalgamation resolution. Anita Saar (CEO of the Estonian (Toronto) Credit Union) and Ellen Valter (Chair) were present to welcome the union of Latvians and Estonians in a joint effort to provide both communities with many different and upgraded banking op...portunities. We also bid farewell to Andris Lagzdins, long standing CEO of the Latvian Credit Union and wished him a happy retirement! Our membership was introduced to Martin Gaide and congratulated him on his new role as Senior Branch Manager. After the lottery for winning a birch planter, it was time to thank several board members as they leave their positions at the Latvian Credit Union. Rita Bambers, Janis Grinvalds and Arnolds Smiltnieks. Thank you and paldies to all who came out to partake in such an important event, for it is the first inter-ethnic credit union merger in Ontario!
