Life is busy, isn't it? I mean we are all trying to live our best lives, and some of us are exhausted on the daily trying to help others live their best lives too, right?! You know who you are, heck I'm one too sometimes (shhh). But I know down deep that "It's Not My Job To Be Everything To Everyone". You cannot be everyone's friend, mentor, companion, lifeline, confidante, publisher, soulmate, meal ticket, patter-on-the-backer, lover, mother, feedback giver, wine pourer, yog...a buddy, movie date, editor, nail polisher, fiasco fixer. (I'm exhausted just writing this) I mean it just isn't possible. And you know what, you have my full permission to Not Be Everything To Everyone! You absolutely deserve to be nothing to anyone else every once in a while, even if it's just for an hour or two. Just some good old fashion quality ME time where no one is there to call your name. Whether it's "Mom", "Honey", "Ma'am", or your first name followed by a request to get something done. Self care is something that just brings you PURE JOY with no strings attached and that you SHOULDN'T feel guilty about. If you could take 2 hours just for you (and only you) today, how would you spend it? Would you take a much-needed nap? Would you catch up on some reading? Would you take yourself to lunch? Maybe even just a walk outdoors with your favourite music?
