If you are 37+ weeks pregnant or recently gave birth and live in Nova Scotia, consider joining our research study! Essential Coaching for Every Mother is a text... message program that sends daily texts about caring for yourself and your baby for the first six weeks postpartum. The messages are based on public health recommendations and have been approved by moms and healthcare providers. If you participate, you will be randomized (like flipping a coin) into one of two groups: (1) the Essential Coaching for Every Mother group or (2) a control group. The Essential Coaching for Every Mother group will receive texts up to 6 weeks postpartum. Texts will be sent two times per day for two weeks, once a day after that. The control group will not receive any messages. Both groups will be asked to complete a survey after you give birth and at 6 weeks and 6 months postpartum. You will receive $15 for each survey you complete. If you are 37+ weeks pregnant, text PREGNANT to 902-702-6278 for more information and to sign up. If you recently gave birth (<10 days postpartum), text BIRTH to 902-702-6278 for more information and to sign up. This study is funded by an IWK Health Mentored Grant and the IWK Health Ross Fund. Ethics for this project has been obtained by the IWK Health Centre.

If anyone has any major media con...tacts so that we can dispel some of the misinformation out there, I'd be happy to help! Just email [email protected] to connect us with the media outlet. See more

The uterus is considered a free floating organ, supported by 14 ligaments, nestled between the bladder & bowels. It has the capacity to shift & move, to grow ...& shrink not only during pregnancy but also during each & every menstrual cycle. A non-menstruating uterus weighs about 4oz, but by the end of pregnancy these same ligaments must support an organ that now averages aprox 11lbs The amount of strain incurred on the uterus can be likened to first degree musculoskeletal strain - with a recovery time taking much more than 6 weeks Healing the uterine ligaments is a primary reason why profound REST is so important during the fourth trimester May we all live with strength & vitality & without prolapse #bornmidwifery #preventinguterineprolaspe #fourthtrimester #wichitabirth #postpartum See more
