SLEEP I’m a night owl, always have been. My best work is done between 2-3am. I naively thought this would work in my benefit with a newborn (spoiler alert: it didn’t). In fact, I find more and more as a working mama that if I’m not mindful of my sleep, my old friend insomnia can grab my hand and take me for a RIDE. I did a lot of research into infant sleep. I wanted to make sure I was prepared to best support Levi’s growing body + mind with sleep, while being flexible enou...gh to roll with my working schedule. What I failed to acknowledge for myself is that I too am growing and changing in this new season of mamahood. And I need sleep too My favourite way to gently ensure that my insomnia is kept at bay is to set up a rhythm for my day, honouring my natural circadian rhythm. While I don’t often see the sunrise these days (thank you Levi ), I try my best to get outside to find the sun at noon and watch it set in the evening. If you’re local and see me walking every night, stop and say hi! Swipe to check out how Ingersoll glows at sunset You got this, Mama. Support is here just for you during this hectic time. Breech presentation My first baby, born during the height of a global pandemic in breech presentation. I think I’ll always wonder what if. What if we had found out sooner? What if my supplies would have been able to arrive on time? What if I had been able to see my chosen healthcare providers during my third trimester? What if I could have gotten the support that I needed? Mamas to be, with a breech baby or not, I want you to hear this. Having a baby during a pandemic is... hard. Support exists. Reach out, find your people- we are here for you Moxa is one option to support proper alignment of baby for birth. I will use moxa in combination with acupuncture for baby’s positioning and/or labour prep. @tomo.photography #strongasamother #naturopathicmedicine #naturopathicdoctor #yourfriendinhealth

It’s that time of year Time to get your vitamin D levels checked. We know the importance of vitamin D as it relates to our immune functioning, mood, and for those trying to conceive. As we transition into fall, those sunset summer nights become a thing of the past. North Americans are notoriously deficient in vitamin D, but it’s always best to test and not guess when it comes to supplementing. Dosing the appropriate amount of vitamin D is dependent on YOUR levels. Dm to cha...t more! This was my last day of being pregnant! So swollen, so tired, so ready to have my baby in my arms. The months that led up to this day were tough. The University of Alberta put out a study estimating that the incidence of perinatal depression has tripled since the start of COVID, and new parent anxiety has over doubled. I felt that. Hard. Before COVID I had all the plans, read all the books and visualized the birth I wanted. I hand selected my birth team to coach me through ...what I knew would be a life altering experience. But one day, those options were no longer available to me. Things changed FAST. When I tried to express my fears and worries well intended people had little to offer aside from as long as the baby’s ok. The thing is though, I knew I could trust our medical system to take care of my baby. And I knew that as a mama, I would make the tough decisions in the best interest of my baby with the information given to me. What I was worried about was my change in mood, my insomnia, the racing thoughts. I want you to know mama, that you are just as important as your baby. That when you feel well and like yourself, your baby feels that too. Maybe it feels daunting where you are at now, but know that your support team is out there. Forever grateful for my sound board @nestedholistic and Chiro-turned-therapist @dr.tanyachambersdc Together we can change the way we support women through their pregnancy to thrive in the fourth trimester and beyond. DM your thoughts or experiences, I’d love to hear from you @birthstories.by.meaganadams

Levi made his grand appearance in June and what a ride it has been! We are thrilled with our perfect baby boy and Riley is loving her big sis role. Pregnancy and birth during a global pandemic, not an easy thing. The birth of a child also represents the birth of a mother, and PHEW things have shifted for me. My experience highlighted gaps in care, specifically for the mama. Things are about to change. Reach out. Find your people. Let’s build this community together Are you... currently pregnant? Trying to conceive? Have you recently had a baby? I’d love to hear about your experience during this COVID time. Drop a line below and let’s give some support to our mama tribe @birthstories.by.meaganadams

Surprise Ingersoll! Our population is set to grow by +1 in the next few months and this bump is too big to hide I struggled with announcing my pregnancy. For one, I don’t often share personal details and two, a large portion of my patient load is fertility related. I want you to know that my path was not linear to this pregnancy. My own journey was my biggest inspiration to explore fertility through a naturopathic approach. Many months passed in quiet anticipation and ended ...in tears before those two pink lines were here to stay It felt insincere to not acknowledge the insecurity and anxiety around being pregnant during this pandemic. If you are pregnant during this crazy time, deep breath Mama, your body is the perfect spot for your baby to grow and feel your love. I’ll share my top lifestyle tips for reducing anxiety in my stories in the coming days. Until then, tell me sweet friends, how are you really feeling? One day at a time #anintrovertshares #naturopathicmedicine #naturopathicdoctor #yourfriendinhealth

Please note that as of today, I have moved my practice online until further review. The health and safety of my patients and community are of highest priority. This decision is being made to support the national efforts to decrease COVID-19 viral spread and flatten the curve. The recommendation to practice social distancing by suspending all non-essential in-person visits has been reinforced by the federal and provincial government, and professional governing bodies. At this... time, I am happy to offer visits as virtual video or phone consultations for essential visits. If you are a patient of mine, you would have received an email from me this morning explaining what that looks like. All acupuncture and hands on treatment appointments have been cancelled and will be rescheduled once we have more information available. New patients are not currently being accepted at this time. In this unpredictable and challenging time, know that you are not alone. We all have a very important role to play in the coming weeks in terms of flattening the curve, and I look forward to reuniting with you in clinic soon

Like training a puppy, gently bring yourself back a thousand times. There will be many cycles in this process, stormy days alternating with clear days. Just stay with it. Jack Kornfield shares six steps to add meditation and awareness to your daily routine.

Let’s build a community. Are you a current patient of mine? I am trialling monthly community acupuncture sessions for accessible care. What does that look like ...you ask? Two treatment tables in the same room, meaning you’ll be sharing the energy of your session with one other person. Are we doing an acupuncture protocol as part of your treatment plan? Or do you want a night of self care and relaxation before bed? Reserve your spot by emailing me at [email protected]. This is limited to the first 8 people that sign up! You must be a current patient of mine to take advantage of this opportunity. Canned food donations for our local Salvation Army will be accepted, so we can both build and support our local community #naturopathicmedicine #naturopathicdoctor #yourfriendinhealth #ingersollontario

Ingersoll, I have a sweet dream to share with you. I’ve been dreaming of building a community based tribe of women supporting one another. A safe space to connect with our neighbours, socialize, to build new connections. I very purposely set my roots in this small town. Moving my practice has me excited to expand my offerings and pursuing this dream of community support. What does this look like? I have a few ideas but I would love your feedback. Would you be interested in a monthly informal book club? Monthly health related seminars? Feel free to message me or email me with your interest ([email protected]). Space is limited for this first beta group
