Spring Detox Tip #2: So now that we are drinking the right liquid, time to get rid of the wrong ones! Eliminating or reducing caffeinated and high sugar beverages being the first step. Reducing multiple coffees a day to just one, switching to a lower caffeine dark roast or a organic black tea is often easier than cold turkey. Adding in good herbal teas helps with cravings and many have detoxing properties. You will feel tired at first but than you're natural energy will take... over as your adrenal glands begin doing there job again! Switching to honey or stevia and going dairy free with coconut cream or milk alternative can also improve nutrients and reduce calories. Why do this? Caffein is a stimulant and can cause increased anxiety and sleep issues which both lead to inability to lose weight. Refined sugar is full of calories and has no nutritional value. Conventional dairy is also calorie rich, nutrient depleted and contains excess hormones. Hormonal imbalances are often the cause of excess weight. Also remember that cows milk is meant to rapidly grow a calf into a 1500 lb cow... so you can probably imagine why it contributes to human obesity! Skip the high sugar juices and opt for all natural if any. Add sparkling water to get that fizz you love and cut out soft drinks. Don't drink diet pops which contain aspartame which may cause nervous system issues and sugar cravings. Spring Detox Tip #1: Spring has sprung and time to shed our winter insulation My first suggestion to clients is simply lemon water in the AM. At least half a litre of filtered water with half a fresh squeezed lemon. Why? Our fat stores toxins and as we shed our winter pounds these toxins get released into our bloodstreams to be filtered by our livers. ... Therefore we need to cleanse our liver and keep it in good shape or these toxins have no where to go and hinder our weight loss and cause nasty symptoms like skin issues and immune problems.
