Hi everyone! Let me introduce myself on here! So here’s a few fun facts about me (how fun they really are is up to you) 1. My name is Kristine Adams 2. I’ve been a Registered Massage Therapist since 2016 and I got my Personal Training Certification in 2019! 3. I competed in powerlifting for 5 years and I squatted 400lbs in my last competition!... 4. I’m a proud immigrant & I lived in the Philippines til I was 15. I’ve been a Canadian citizen for almost 7 years now. 5. I was the first person in my family to graduate post secondary. 6. My favourite fruit is mango and I’m not a vegetable fan. 7. I once woke up with a random guy cuddling me when I was house sitting and I did not know him. Now that’s a conversation starter! #strangerdanger See more

It’s the first snowfall of the year! (The one a few weeks ago doesn’t count!!) If you did a bunch of shovelling last night and are feeling sore in the back or in the shoulders, don’t panic! Soreness (in this case DOMS) is a response of the body to movements you don’t usually do/haven’t done in a while. We only have 6 months of winter after all. ... Don’t avoid movement, stretch or come get a massage! This is very manageable on your own! See more

Yes, exercise is a great tool for weight loss. Although starting exercise doesn’t have to be about losing weight. : . It helps improve your mood. . It builds muscle (no you won’t turn into Arnold) and can prevent osteoporosis! ... . It increases your energy levels. . It can help with pain management. I’m sure I missed more benefits. Drop in the comments below how exercise has improved your life! See more

? A question I get asked a lot by my clients. The answer is . I have different reasons why I get massages myself. ... 1. My work is labour intensive and I use my body a lot. The last quarter of the year gets busy work wise so I try to go more often than I do the rest of the year. 2. It’s my form of self care. I don’t have massage benefits therefore I pay out of pocket. I feel better physically and mentally. I get to zone out for an hour and chill the FUCK out. I can also feel what muscles I need to give a bit more love. (Right now my forearms omg) 3. When I used to train for powerlifting, I get my low back, legs and glutes worked on for the most part. It kept me going through a peak! 4. I get to discover different techniques! The best way to learn new things is to get massages! And I get to support my fellow massage therapists in the area! ? See more

! WHAT IS THE POMODORO METHOD? It is a time management technique where you break your day up into 25 minute chunks and separated by 5 minute chunks!... I usually instruct my clients to do this when they tell me that they forget to do their exercises or that they don’t have time. Now, should you do your exercises 2x an hour for 8 hours? Of course not! This can serve as a reminder for you to shake it out or move away from your computer for a few minutes before diving deep into work again! ’ ! See more

: . Stand with your back against the wall. . Walk forwards about a foot off the wall. ... . Lean back, tuck your glutes under . Make contact with wall with your low back, head, wrists and arms. . Slide your arms up and down the wall. ’ , ’ ’ . This exercise is good for strengthening your back muscles, lengthening your pecs and increasing range of motion! If you can’t do this against the wall, it can be done on the floor. ! See more

Happy Tuesday! With a lot of people working from home, I’m sure everyone’s struggling with being away from their ideal work stations. (If they do exist.) Here’s something to help if you’ve been hunching over your computer for a while. ... - Start with sitting on the floor, lean back towards your foam roller and place on your mid back. Keep your ribs down while extending back towards the floor. If you don’t have a foam roller, you can roll up a thick towel instead! ’ . ! See more

A little workout I did a couple of weeks ago with a . 5 rounds each, 10 reps each exercise Front squat Romanian deadlifts... Shoulder press Lunges Bicep curls Good mornings I sadly don’t have access to a gym right now as do so many people so we have to get creative! Massage therapy has been deemed to be non-essential and telehealth is out of scope for us right now. (Gotta touch people and that’s a no-no for now.) Let me know if there’s anything you’d like to see me post that can help you at this time! ! See more

GLUTESGLUTES GLUTES Most of the time, glute work (aka your ass) gets neglected when getting massages. Ask about it next time you come in or I suggest it if I think it’s appropriate for you and you might leave a happy camper just like the picture says! .... Glute work helps with: -low back and hip pain -alleviates sciatic pain -sore hips at the later stage of pregnancies -tense hamstrings -help with overall tension and relaxation . How will the glutes be addressed? Since it’s a sensitive area for most people, I usually work on the glutes through the sheets. Meaning they’re fully covered as I do some pin and stretch (put pressure on the muscles while moving the joint). . At any point in the massage that you don’t feel comfortable with glute work, let your massage therapist know and they should stop. (Even if you agreed to it initially.) .
