63 Always Late Racing 18.04.2021

This last weekend of racing didn't go quite as hoped. It rained and poured so much on the Saturday that we unfortunately didn't get to race at all. That seemed to set the mood for a few of us the next day as we just felt off. Unfortunately these things happen. The Sunday started out better. The weather cooperated with us to allow us to complete the race day. I timed in with a personal best for this car, shaving off an additional 0.4 seconds from my previous time in. I was hap...py, until I saw that every one else stepped up their game as well haha. Oh well, such is racing. Sometimes we let things cloud our excitement and achievements. I went in to the rest of the day not doing my best. I let things get to me, I felt the car wasn't performing properly, but more than likely it was the driver. There is always something that can be improved, sometimes that something is yourself. Unfortunately in the Main I ran in to some problems. I am not exactly sure when the issue arose, but it was noticed during a caution. My car died in on of the corners. I tried to get it started with no luck. The more I tried the more smoke entered my car. Another racer and friend, Tristin Bruvold, came around the corner and tried to help me start the car by giving it a push. That didn't work. So instead it was limped in to the pits. As I entered the pits the smoke inside got thick enough that we wanted to be sure it wasn't anything serious. Thankfully it was not, just a sick car. Once we got it back to the pits we realized that one of my engine mounts broke, allowing the engine to lay far too much onto it's left side. That bent my throttle, pulled the wires out of my alternator, and in turn killed the battery. So, when I was trying to start it I had no throttle to give it gas, not enough juice in the battery to convince it to go, and in the end we believe it flooded the carb as it took far too many laps in the pits to push start it. I almost finished the race with the help of my uncle, Terry Butler #88, turning laps on the inside In the end we got it started, just long enough to limp it out and cross the finish line so I could collect my points instead of a DNF. I am still sitting second in points, and I'm thankful for that. Tristin is currently holding 1st, with his wife Kia taking 3rd. Tonight we have the West Coast Vintage Racers at our track! They have brought 30 cars with them and it should be an amazing show. Our local classes will be racing as well. I am positive I will have a better outcome tonight.

Terry Butler, my uncle and the one who got us started in racing, has made it back to the track and is racing as #88 ALWAYS LATE RACING Pro Mini! Rough start to the day with water pump issues, but Stephen and Terry worked hard to get it going and got it out for the Heat race. He finished 3rd!

Time in's are done, I got 3rd fastest out of 10 and will be running in the A Dash. Just a little look at how we track our times and find our line up. Every one seems to be running just a tad slower compared to some of the previous times, we'll see how things go as more rubber gets laid on the track.

Only 9 more days until my race season FINALLY starts! I was lucky enough to go on a trip of a life time with some friends, road tripping and camping along the Washington, Oregon and California coast. I had an amazing time, unfortunately it meant that I missed the first TWO races of the season. Don't worry, my car was there and is currently holding first place in points thanks to #75 Always Late Racing, Stephen Woods. I am extremely thankful, but very excited to finally be a...ble to get behind the wheel and have some fun of my own. In the meantime my car was on display at the Vanderhoof show and shine, and tomorrow you can see it at the Crossroads Street Party. Come say hi and take some pictures with it! Kids are more than welcome to climb inside and hopefully catch the racing bug A HUGE thank you to my sponsors: Exile Tattoo Company 68 Sunset Glass NK Truck and Diesel Repair Mackenzie Hose & Fittings Hannah Magee Photography
