Human Development Council vient de publier un nouveau rapport sur le salaire de subsistance pour 4 villes du N-B Le rapport pour Moncton souligne qu'il y a un manque de logements à louer de 3 chambres, ce qui a un impact sur les familles. (Moncton a moins de la moitié du nombre d'unités de 3 chambres par rapport aux autres grandes villes du N-B). Les récentes augmentations de loyer à Moncton ne sont probablement pas encore entièrement reflétées dans les résultats de cette ét...ude. Le salaire de subsistance "est calculé pour mettre en evidence le montant qu'un menage devrait gagner pour etre en mesure de financer l'ensemble de ses besoins de base." Le salaire de subsistance est un outil vraiment puissant. Il peut aider les employeurs à comprendre quel salaire est nécessaire pour que les employés puissent couvrir leurs besoins de base, il peut aider les résidents et les nouveaux arrivants dans une région à comprendre comment un salaire offert se compare au coût de la vie dans cette région. Les familles qui travaillent pour de bas salaires sont confrontées à des choix impossibles, comme l'achat de produits d'épicerie ou le paiement du loyer. Il a été démontré que le salaire vital améliore considérablement la vie des familles qui travaillent, des employeurs qui suivent ces directives et de la communauté dans son ensemble. The Human Development Council just released a new report on Living Wage for 4 cities in New Brunswick (based on 2020 data). Here is the data for Moncton. The report for Moncton outlines that there is a lack of 3 bedroom rental units which impacts families. (Moncton has less than half the amount of 3-bdr units compared to other large NB cities). The recent increases in rent in Moncton are likely not yet fully reflected in the results of this study. Living wage "is calculated t...o show how much a household would have to earn to cover all basic necessities and allow families to live in dignity and enjoy a decent quality of life." Living wage is a really powerful tool. It can help employers understand what wage is needed for employees to cover their basic necessities, it can help residents and people new to a region understand how a wage being offered compares to the cost of living for that area. Families who work for low wages face impossible choices such as purchasing groceries or paying the rent. Living wage has shown to drastically improve the lives of working families, the employers who follow these guidelines, and the community at large.
