Last week I became aware of a habit I’ve developed since preparing to open the new clinic. I have been waking up and hopping on the computer to get some digital work completed (stay tuned in the coming months!). I realized that I was pouring my morning cup of warmth (tea or coffee, I’m a switcher) and bringing it directly to my computer desk. . For some reason, a conversation I had had (English is weird) with a friend about morning routines popped into my head. I told her ...how I LOVE when you wake up in the morning, and your mind hasn't started yet. I spend the first 20-60 minutes of my day with my tea/coffee just existing. . She looked at me like I was crazy and started to laugh. She goes on to tell me, that the moment she gets up it's all hands on deck. She's a teacher, was pregnant at the time, AND had a new puppy. She tells me about making breakfasts and lunches, getting ready for the day and fitting in morning walks. . I always find these moments and conversations the best, we tend to get caught up in the idea that everyone thinks and feels exactly like us. It’s always a great reminder that your reality isn’t someone else’s reality of course our mornings are going to look vastly different. . Months later after she had her baby, she told me "we just existed this morning" and I smiled. She told me it was just her and the baby soaking up those moments together losing track of time. Everyday can't be like that, so make sure you take time to be present and enjoy existing when the opportunity arises. She now has a 16 month old and I’m going to go out on a limb here assuming she doesn’t get those moments too often anymore. . I used to make it a priority to meditate with my morning cup of warmth for at least 5 minutes during this existing phase. My meditation wasn’t your vision of the girl in the pic above (that was just used as a pretty hook to lure you in #sorrynotsorry), it was focusing on my drink. Noticing the warmth of the cup in my hands and as I drank, the warmth through my body. I would smell the beverage I try to pick out the different flavour notes, and as I would sip to see if they matched. . I’m making it a priority again. See more

For those lazy Sundays where you don't feel like even having to hold your foot. Using a yoga strap (the less flexible you're feeling, the longer the strap needs to be) make a loop and open it as wide as you need to place your foot and torso inside. Bend one knee and place foot into the strap and take the rest of the loop overhead and under the upper back below shoulders. Then straighten your leg. No yoga strap? Use a belt and create a loop, and put your foot inside ...the loop. Tighten around the sole of your foot as if your mid foot is wearing the belt. If the metal of your belt is digging into your foot, put on a slipper or shoe. Straighten your leg while keeping the head, shoulders and upper back on the floor. For the second, draw your leg across your body so the foot is in line with the opposite shoulder. Watch that the hip doesn't lift off the floor and you begin to twist, we are just moving the leg. Take your hand and try to slide it underneath your buttock, you should feel both hips heavy on the floor. You can also take your thumb in your hip crease and try to physically roll your thigh and hip away from your shoulder. This will create more external rotation and may change where you feel the stretch in the outer upper leg and hip. Why not just hold the leg with your hands? For most people this pulls the shoulders and chest forward. I want the focus to be on stretching the hamstrings (back of thigh) and glutes, and IT Band (outer hip and thigh). Don't have a belt? Use a towel or blanket, or anything which allows your arms to rest. Have fun with it! #lazysunday #lazyyoga #yoga #yogainspiration #yogastretch #yogaprops #hamstrings #itband #glutes #stretching #selfcare #massage #massagetherapy #helpmehelpyou #helpyourself #slowitdown #workhardresthard See more

When you take a week off and plan to get a lot of your spring cleaning done, with the main focus being on the lawn and garden. What am I going to do, get mad about it? I can't control it, so why waste time being focused on how it didn't go "to plan". Disappointments happen when our expectations aren't meant. I try not to expect too much when it comes to Canadian weather. Is the snow/ice on April 15/16th annoying? Yes. Do I wish it was spring already? Yes. Do I r...eally want to make a joke about how "the cold never bothered me anyway"? Just did. Or how I want to tell you to "let it go"? Ya I went there too. Are bad jokes and puns life? HECK YES! #frozen #letitgo #thecoldneverbotheredmeanyway #dadjokes #punny #badpuns #cantstopwontstop #butseriously #whereisspring #notincanada #hopefullysoon #wheredothehashtagsgo #gardens #flowers #spring #massage #massagetherapist #yoga #yogateacher See more

When you go to a friend's jack and jill and win a door prize but you're a smelly hippie and probably going to use it for essential oil sprays (and actually planning to go out Monday to buy vodka just for that purpose). I've made peace with My inner hippie (or witchyness, whatever you prefer). Had at least two people comment on how I smell like essential oils tonight. Definitely worse things I could smell like. Hope you've had a good Saturday. ... #jackandjill #staganddoe #whateveritscalled #wedding #party #fun #winner #doorprize #hippie #essentialoils #spray #wasted #massage #yoga #realife See more

Yoga burpees! I love mixing up my practice to include a wide variety of movements. As summer and tennis weather approaches, I need to work on rebounding/jumps to prepare my body for those quick, explosive movements. I don't love cardio, but I do love playing around like a kid. Jumping around, handstanding are all ways to make exercise more fun (for me at least!) and also functional for other areas of life. Gotta try to be well rounded and balanced as best I can! H...ope you all find ways to inject more play in your day. Find your flight and jump for joy, and to round out your exercise routine. #makeexercisefunagain #yoga #burpees #exercise #wellrounded #movement #wellness #healthylifestyle #massage #selfcare #yogateacher #massagetherapist See more

Real talk. Third night of insomnia in a row, something I haven't has to deal with for quite some time. Last night was only 4 hours and I feel like shit. I cancelled plans with my friend today because I have a dentist appointment and business lunch before meeting up with her. . I knew I needed some extra me time, so I cancelled. She understood because she has an 11 month old (yes I cancelled on HER because of lack of sleep). She totally gets it. Also we've been friends for ov...er a decade (!!!) and she has always coped with little/no sleep better than I have. . So here's the first selfies that I think I've ever taken to actually just show my face. I'm a happy person, but if you mess with my sleep, or my food? I'm a bear...or I guess today I'm a doped up smiling owl? Yep, still smiling because I've been working on something super exciting. Stay tuned! . . . . . . #realtalk #insomnia #sleepy #stillsmiling #cancelledplans #stillfriends #shegetsit #entrepreneur #massage #business See more
