Mini landscape and cloudscape paintings... These little birch panels are too cute at 3x4 and 4x4...I couldn’t resist trying them out today. Thank you for the awesome supplies @maggiollyart ! Top little landscape is oil on 3x4 birch panel, Don’t bring your camera. (Painted without a reference photo), and the bottom cloudscape is 4x4 oil on birch panel Made with Love. (Since there is a little yellow heart I see in the clouds.) ... I am hoping these little paintings will be accessible and easy for collectors since they are so small and can be tucked on a little shelf or other small spaces. Plus smaller paintings are easy (and hopefully cheaper) to ship! I feel like everyone on the planet is so used to free shipping, but it is actually very much the opposite to ship art when you need tracking and insurance. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions for shipping art? A landscape from the sea... I can finally post this painting that I did a few weeks ago for my husband’s 40th birthday since he’s seen it now. (So glad you love it, @a_sonic_youth !) Evan is from the sea since he grew up in beautiful Nova Scotia, so it felt fitting to give this to him for a big birthday... ... My husband is so supportive of my painting career, and has always encouraged me in every way, so I am thrilled to be able to give him something like this in return. It really means so much to me when he’s seen me through years of not being able to create to be able to return the favour of years of the beautiful music he creates. Snowy landscape, Winter Barn. Oil on maple panel, 18x24 So painting on wood is different! Smooth like butter...at least the panels from @rusticburlco are super smooth! Thank you again @rusticburlco for sending these beautiful panels out to me. ... I really enjoyed the process and I can’t believe how smooth they get their maple panels!!Really beautiful materials, and the smell is heavenly while you’re working! I also liked being able to lean on them a little without worrying about stretching the canvas. It’s a different feel though and I’m still getting used to not being able to blend the same way that you do on canvas, but the end result is definitely smoother than canvas I think. I can see why encaustic artists use panels. Anyway, I’ve always been curious to try painting on wood, and I’m grateful again to @rusticburlco and @artalchemyeast for the wonderful giveaway they put together that I was lucky enough to win!
