When KIM and Hard-Cem were combined in Aquatera’s wastewater treatment plant expansion, the construction team was able to overcome the surrounding harsh wintery conditions and upgrade the plant within their timeline. https://bit.ly/3dZ7Vem
Hard-Cem is a game-changer for concrete construction. An integral, hardening admixture that is added to the concrete mix, Hard-Cem increases concrete durability, speeds up construction, and eliminates toxic, silica dust found in dry-shake hardeners. Download the free e-book to find out how Hard-Cem increases abrasion and erosion resistance and overcomes the limitations of surface-applied concrete hardeners. https://bit.ly/3ee9OTa
The Pier D expansion at the Vancouver International Airport (YVR) will ensure that the airport can continue supporting the ever-increasing number of passengers. It features eight new additional gates, including four traditional jet bridge gates and four remote stand bus gates. Since YVR is very close to sea level, the waterproofing was very critical for this project. That is why the design team chose Kryton's Smart Concrete solutions to provide the perfect protection from water penetration. (Photo: Vancouver Airport Authority) https://bit.ly/3xeV27j
OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) recently launched a national emphasis program aimed at reducing exposure to silica and preventing silicosis. While it doesn’t look like silica dust is going away anytime soon as it is still widely used in various construction materials, you may want to consider using an alternative for your worksite when possible. Find out more about silica dust and how you might mitigate them. https://bit.ly/2Qa1T14

Without proper waterproofing, bridges can easily get wear and tear from repeated exposure to freeze-thaw cycles and de-icing salts. To prevent this from happening to the upgrades for the Popkum train overpass bridge, the bridge's design team specified KIM for the bridge deck concrete. KIM makes it possible for concrete to stop water and chemicals like salt from passing through it. That ensured the team could reduce maintenance costs while increasing the upgraded bridge's longevity. https://bit.ly/3cZ25sD
Congratulations to Kryton's president and CEO, Kari Yuers, who has been appointed to the Council of Governors for the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade. Kari was elected to the board in 2015 and served in several positions over the years. Most recently, she served as chair of the organization from 2019 to 2020. I am honored to have served as Chair of the Board of Trade, particularly through such challenging times. When I laid out my mandate, I spoke about the importance of b...uilding off our strengths and embracing technological change and innovation, said Kari. I am inspired by the resilience and grit that the members and staff of the GVBOT have shown over the past year. I look forward to continuing to serve the business community as a member of the Council of Governors and working together to strengthen the community further. https://bit.ly/3uAHp0k See more
When curing your concrete, you want to make sure it's developing properly for optimal durability. One of the most accurate ways of getting insight into this process is by monitoring your concrete with wireless, reusable Maturix Sensors. If you are interested in finding out more about Maturix, we've partnered with Concrete Manitoba to host a detailed online presentation on April 14 at 2 PM CDT. https://bit.ly/3rkwGoI

Download the free e-book from the Construction Specifier and discover the best waterproofing methods for protecting your concrete. Without proper waterproofing, your concrete's structural integrity, and subsequently, its durability, can be compromised, letting in water and waterborne contaminants through concrete, which can corrode the rebar inside. There’s much to consider when developing your waterproofing plan for your structure. To help, we've sponsored The Construction Specifier's latest e-book on the best ways to waterproof concrete. View it online for free when you click the link below. https://bit.ly/3rnrUXw
Using Hard-Cem to optimize warehouse durability for a more sustainable business Wanting to expand their business, Brandt Tractor Warehouse Ltd. worked with Ledcor Group and Kryton to construct a warehouse with a highly durable floor. To help create the desired durability, Kryton provided Hard-Cem, which the ready-mix supplier added into the concrete. That allowed the hardening admixture to permeate throughout the concrete, giving it a thorough resistance to abrasion and erosion. https://bit.ly/3w2AIp0
As part of High Impact Lab’s month-long celebration of International Women’s Day, the company held an in-depth interview with Kryton’s CEO and president, Kari Yuers. In it, Kari shows that changing the world starts with changing yourself. https://bit.ly/3sgmzma
CorLiving's distribution and manufacturing facility was built in 2004 with Hard-Cem used throughout. Since then, the facility has been able to withstand immense friction and abrasion from pallet jackets, forklifts, and other manufacturing tools every day. 14 years later, we revisited the manufacturing facility. What we saw was impressive: Hard-Cem had proven to be the durable and reliable concrete hardening solution the owner was looking for. https://bit.ly/2OHXiCI
When one of Flex Ltd.’s water containment tanks in Tijuana, Mexico, started showing signs of cracking and rusting from water ingress, the company got to work looking for a repair solution that could permanently stop the water from coming into the tank. https://bit.ly/34sxWxh
Have a cheerful holiday season! May your life be filled with warmth and good cheer this holiday season and throughout the New Year.
'Tis the season! Even though we cannot physically be together this year, the people at Kryton are still full of the holiday spirit. Besides our gift exchange through Zoom, President and CEO, Kari Yuers and the team also prepared Christmas buckets that are full of goodies for everyone.

Monitoring concrete development becomes particularly important during the unpredictable winter season. Differential temperature between the concrete and the ambient air and the freeze-thaw cycle can drastically impact the strength of your concrete. Maturix sensors continuously monitor your concrete’s temperature and strength as they develop so you can remain aware and in control of your concrete’s development at any time from anywhere. General Contractor, Build Invest Bulgaria AD was faced with an ambitious construction schedule for their recent project. They needed a solution to help them meet the high standards of the design and help them overcome the challenging schedule. They decided to use KIM. When KIM was used in the below grade slabs, retaining walls, and all the water-retaining structures, it saved a lot of time and resources. This new residential complex in Sofia, Bulgaria, which consists of six... separate buildings, was now protected from potential water ingress. https://bit.ly/365tpki #waterproofing #construction #membrane #concrete #smartconcrete

There is no doubt that membranes add adequate protection to the structures. The problem, however, is the quality of the concrete is sometimes overlooked in favor of how well membranes can protect it instead. While that can be seen as a tempting shortcut to deal with any issues the concrete has, it’s not the best approach to determining whether these membranes are worth using. Waterproofing membranes can work, but they’re not a replacement for proper concrete construction. Essentially, there is no shortcut to waterproofing a structure. Quality waterproofed concrete, proper jointing systems (construction, expansion, and control joints), and adequate reinforcement are prerequisites to a sustainable, dry structure. https://bit.ly/3656FAY #waterproofing #smartconcrete #construction #smartconcrete #durability #concrete
