The last time I sang in front of a live audience was at the ‘Back to Live’ concert at The Hycroft Manor on July 31, 2020 when lockdown restrictions had just been eased. Thank you all for attending the concert and supporting me during these uncertain times! I miss the magical connection with the audience at a live concert and hope to perform again soon. In the meantime, enjoy this little slice of Heaven from last year’s concert.

Path to my dream. Part 2. Is music really for me? At the age of six, my parents enrolled me in a music school where I studied piano and learned singing for the following five years. That was in addition to the elementary school (a gymnasium with advanced study of English), so it was hectic for me and my parents. ... Even though I loved singing, I wasn't a big fan of solfeggio and playing scales. (I'm sure many of you can relate) Practicing piano at home wasn’t fun either as five of us were living in a small apartment, and everyone had better things to do than listening to my repetitive scales playing. My parents were working hard to make money for leaving, so they couldn’t always help me with practice. It ended up with me occasionally coming unprepared to classes and hearing negative feedback from teachers. My biggest embarrassment was on the showcase performance when I couldn’t remember half of the composition and sat in silence for a few minutes in front of all teachers and students. Oofff Even though sometimes I came unprepared, teachers were impressed by how quickly I was able to catch up with my classmates. After completing the foundational 5-year program at the music school, I felt overwhelmed and refused to continue. Teachers said that I’m very talented and should continue with the extended program for another two years, but I was unshakable. Moreover, the studying at gymnasium became more and more intense and it was hard to combine both. I even thought that music was not for me and took a break for some time... To be continued. See more

Path to my dream. Part 1. A tough start. I grew up in Volgograd, Russia, and like some of you here, my parents were at a crossroad on what career path I should follow. ... At the age of 5 it was clear that I had an ear for music. I played a TV show’s soundtrack on a piano after only listening to it. My dad insisted on me studying music but my mom thought music couldn’t pay the bills. I was too young to decide at that time so I guess I was caught in the middle. Back then, parents weren’t into raising kids with lots of motivation and emotional support. Many parents weren’t properly informed and they believed an overwhelming show of care and support would only produce a spoilt little kid. Moreover, I always got negative feedback and was frequently bullied in school. All these made me believe I wasn’t good enough. My experiences and environment fed me the lie that I wasn’t cut out for singing even though I wanted to so badly. To be continued.

Words can’t describe how much I love recording sessions in a studio Singing in general releases a fair amount of endorphins. Recording in a studio is a double dose. As promised, I recorded this song as a gift to Daria, who won it under my Christmas post.... Thanks Suna Recording Studios for the great experience

Yesterday was my 8th anniversary living in Canada. I want to use this opportunity to thank everyone who make my life happy in so many ways. I believe immigration is tough for everyone. ... However, people have many reasons to follow through. I came here for a better life, friendlier people and career opportunities. Thank you Canada for not disappointing me. I’m happy where I’m at, and looking hopefully to the bright future. We live in uncertain times. We can’t control what’s happening in the world. But we are in charge of what we are doing everyday to live better. There are still many reasons to be happy. I’ve decided to work on myself, learn new things, help others, and become a better version of myself. (Cliche, but true). Thanks internet for making it possible even now. I’m so grateful to be living in this beautiful country. THANK YOU everyone who helped me along the way. I cherish every single one of you.
