My yellow Rotary bag for donation to the Kamloops Food Bank is ready! Please be sure to have your bag at the end of your driveway before 9am, to be picked up by... Rotary volunteers tomorrow morning (April 24th). While it’s vitally important at these difficult times to step up and help address hunger in our communities, I am keenly aware that this is a band aid solution and a profound failure of government policy. It’s disgraceful that there is hunger in a country as wealthy as Canada and amidst enormous concentrations of wealth in the hands of few. Charity is a virtue, not a substitute for responsible government policy. The failure of our national governments of the last 30+ years is indicative of a moral and governance failure. I will work tirelessly to end hunger and for a national food security policy. That is my unwavering commitment.
41 years ago today Terry Fox dipped his leg into the Atlantic and headed for the Pacific. Let us build on Terry's dream of a Canada where we take better care of each other.
The climate target set today by PM Trudeau is lower than the US and EU. It’s not good enough. PM Trudeau continues to act like the climate crisis isn’t urgent.... He bought a pipeline. He gives billions to big oil and gas. And he has never met a target to reduce emissions. https://www.ndp.ca//reality-check-trudeaus-earth-day-hot-a
"We can have a more equal Canada by tackling hate, racism and discrimination in all its forms. We can take on the climate crisis by investing in a sustainable recovery, that creates good jobs, that helps reduce our emissions." - Jagmeet Singh
The conclusion is inescapable: If corporations pay less tax, everyone else has to pay more. Canada has followed the trend. Liberal and Conservative governments alike have cut corporate taxes to the point that any sense of tax balance is gone. #FairTaxation #WealthTax
Fifty years ago, Tommy Douglas had a dream, but sadly that dream hasn't been fully realized. Canadians are still being forced to pay out of pocket for life-savi...ng prescription medications. Nobody should have to choose between putting food on the table and paying for medicine. We don't need any more studies, commissions, or pilot programs. With the COVID-19 pandemic raging across our communities and so many Canadians losing their work related benefits the time for Universal Pharmacare is now. Let's keep up the fight for Universal Pharmacare. Add your name: https://www.dondavies.ca/pharmacare
Yesterday’s budget answers an important question. Does Justin Trudeau believe those that profited off the pandemic should pay their fair share, instead of hard-working Canadians? The answer is no. This budget has no wealth tax, no excess profit tax & no real action on tax havens. The last year has proven that when Canadians send New Democrats to Ottawa, we get results. ... While Justin Trudeau continues to choose the ultra-rich, New Democrats choose you NDP.ca/fairshare

Anti-Asian racism is not new, but it is on the rise. Last week, I was proud to introduce and pass a motion in the parliament to unanimously condemn anti-Asian violence Join me in ensuring that the Liberal govt follows through on a plan to tackle it https://ndp.ca/stop-asian-hate... https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=785175925708309
