This week, we're introducing two staff members! Meet Brittany Church (Registered Physiotherapist, Pelvic Health) and Joel Winsor (Registered Physiotherapist)! Joel graduated from Western University and has over 2 years of experience in orthopaedic, sports, and geriatric physiotherapy. His extensive postgraduate training includes manual therapy, functional dry needling, and soft tissue release. Brittany graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Kinetics from the University o...f Windsor and also has a Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy from Queen’s University. She has completed advanced training in contemporary medical acupuncture, orthopaedic manual therapy, and pelvic floor physiotherapy. Brittany is also a member of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association and the Women’s Health Division. Our employee of the week is April Gillies, Registered Physiotherapist. April is a graduate of the University of Queensland with over 12 years of experience in the field of orthopaedic physiotherapy. April has additional training and expertise in women’s Pelvic Health Physiotherapy. She also has post-graduate experience and training in McKenzie Institute Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy, Advanced Manual Therapy levels, Soft Tissue Therapy, and Acupuncture. We are excited to welcome back Registered Physiotherapist Jennifer Young to the Downtown Clinic, who has been off on maternity leave since May. Jennifer holds a Master's degree in Physiotherapy and an undergraduate Honours Degree in Physiology from the University of Saskatchewan. Sasha Branco, our Registered Physiotherapist is a graduate of Queen’s University School of Rehabilitation Therapy with over 6 years experience in the fields of fitness and wellness, as well as orthopaedic and sports physiotherapy. Prior to her Physiotherapy degree, Sasha worked as a Physiotherapy Assistant at our clinic and has become well-versed in exercise rehabilitation and athletic taping. Judy McCoy, our Clinic Manager, brings strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Judy has over 50 years experience in various settings of the healthcare field. Graduating from Durham College in 1971 as a Health Care Aide, Judy worked for 22 years providing hands-on patient care in long-term care settings. Our Registered Physiotherapist of the week is Kevin Varette. Kevin is a graduate of the MscPT program at Queen’s University School of Rehabilitation Therapy with 15 years of diverse experience in a variety of clinical settings. He has worked in both rural and urban centres in inpatient and outpatient hospital settings, as attending staff in an emergency department, in an orthopedic surgery clinic, in several private musculoskeletal clinics, in family health teams and in rehabilitation facilities.
