ATTENTION PARENTS Every parent should know the risks associated with youth and cell phone use. Here are a few quick tips/suggestions to consider when your son or daughter gets a cell phone. 1- Let them know from the start that you will have access and browse the phone regularly. You are probably paying for it anyway. ... 2- Have limitations on when they can use their phone. Do they take it to bed with them at night? Do you know if they are using it during late night hours when everyone is sleeping? Are they using it in their bedroom with the door shut? 3- Let them know not to answer unknown calls or texts from numbers or names they are not familiar with. 4- Explain how apps and data usage works and the costs associated. 5- Tell them to never give out their passwords to their friends for the phone or any apps (Snapchat Streaks) 6- Remind them deleted pictures or apps that claim pictures and messages disappear can actually be accessed at a later date through police investigative techniques. Please consider these tips and have regular discussions with your kids. Make sure they understand the responsibilities and risks associated with owning their own phone. Kensington Police Service Did you know there can be serious legal consequences with cell phone activity? Some of the legal consequences for youth and cell phones include: - Uttering Threats ( sending messages with intentions to harm another individual) -Making, Distributing or Possession of Child Pornography ( taking, sharing or having on your phone nude photos of anyone under the age of 18)

It's tax time again! Canada Revenue Agency is spreading the word about how scammers attempt to defraud people by claiming to be representatives of the CRA and and using threats and intimidation to get the public to send them money, etc. Canada Revenue Agency wants you to know that they will never threaten to have you arrested, use aggressive language, or ask you to make payments by way of gift cards or prepaid credit cards. If the person on the other end of the phone is using any of these tactics, it's not the Canada Revenue Agency!!

Saw this on my personal page, but felt it needed to be shared here as well. I've said over and over that it's only when we work as a team will we all truly win. Let's try to erase the encounter that this mom endured with her incredible family and show her we all care, no matter where we are in the country try. Send her a positive message, share the story around if possible. Not to shame the dumbass who said those hurtful things to her but to, again, help her see we are ...above this kind of intolerance. Together we can change the world gang!
