Hello all! Good to be here! A quick heads-up notice: With any luck, we hope to re-open on the second Sunday in November, 2-4:30 pm at the Unitarian Fellowship at 206 Concession Street, Kingston. COVID-19 protocols observed and vaccination status may be requested. Fixers, please take note. We will put out a call soon asking who can come. Hey everyone: RCK remains on pause due to the pandemic, but we wanted to direct you to a Facebook group called Clients Meet Fixers. It it local to Kingston and the hope is to help community members connect with each other regarding repairs until RCK is able to resume meeting face-to-face safely. Community members who have something they would like to have fixed, as well as those who would like to volunteer for remote fixing, can join this group and post/respond to posts as ap...propriate. Please note that these interactions will occur outside of the RCK mandate - we will not be responsible for organizing or monitoring activity that occurs within or resulting from this group. Members will be responsible for communicating with each other directly. We do recommend that COVID-19 safety protocols be followed. Stay safe everyone! https://www.facebook.com/groups/689026185289824 See more

Habitat Kingston is looking for a volunteer to join our team providing family services. The team is responsible for selecting and vetting the homeowner applicat...ions received, and helping to steer the prospective owners through the process. You will learn about our outreach to the community to find applicants. Duties will involve monthly committee meetings, visiting and interviewing the applicants, and if they are successful in applying, then guiding them through the first year of their homeownership. The volunteer will help the new homeowner with their sweat equity plan, and oversee their contributions, and will assist with the education program for the new homeowners. The time commitment will be minimal, but you must have a flexible schedule and be able to attend meetings and home visits based on the schedules of the families involved. You will have to make a commitment to Habitat Kingston and be willing to stay with us for a period of time and become part of our team. Contact the office at 613-548-8763 ext 211 or [email protected]. See more

Hi everyone. Just an update to let you know that we are still on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Before re-opening, we need to develop new procedures for physical distancing and sanitization. We are hoping to start back up in the coming months, provided that it is determined to be safe to do so.
Crafters and quilters... take note!
EDIT/UPDATE Wow! We have been overwhelmed by the response from our community! We've been able to procure the CPAP machines we need for the pilot design of the c...hallenge. If it works, and the hospitals end up needing more, we may follow up with another campaign. Please stay tuned for further updates by liking our Facebook Page. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who liked and shared our post, and to all those that reached out with some very generous donations! --------------- Please help and share! Queen’s #Engineers have joined the Ventilator Challenge (https://www.agorize.com/en/challenges/code-life-challenge/), but we need CPAP machines to build our prototypes. Can you donate one to the cause? We can arrange for a safe pickup. Contact us for more details and thank you for sharing!
As long as we're talking medical equipment, here is an opportunity to help our health care heroes find N95 hospital masks and other essential supplies. Some hospitals are getting dangerously low. You can join this group on Facebook, or we can put you in touch with a local rep.
Attention sewers! Local group coordinating hand-sewn mask initiative, to be used as back up in the event that our hospitals run out of supplies in the coming weeks and months. Please consider joining in and sending us a photo of the finished product. Details regarding drop-off to follow.
