Our College community lost a great friend and mentor over the weekend, Elder Herman Alpine. College flags will be flown at half-mast for the next few days to ho...nour and respect Herman’s memory. Herman was a valuable member of the Ktunaxa Nation and worked with us at the College as a Resident Elder, speaking to our classes and supporting our students. Herman was a significant part of our Indigenous Education team and his many friends and colleagues at the College will remember him as a knowledgeable and optimistic man.

Change in the Time of Covid With more time at home, many of us had the expectation that we were going to ‘be better or do better than before covid-19. Three months in and for many of us that has not necessarily been the case. The exercise bike is still a clothing rack and the cupboards have our favorite ‘junk foods’ or not because we ate it all! If you are struggling with getting into a healthy routine and want to make better lifestyle choices this Lifestyle Change Checkli...st might be a good starting place! Try setting 1 or 2 small goals and track your progress over 4 weeks. Remember to make very specific and reasonable goals. Add new goals or increase existing goals as you feel ready! Unreasonable Goal: I am going to work out 2 hrs every day Reasonable Goal: I am going to walk 15 minutes 2 times a week on Tuesdays and Fridays at Lunch with my friend Jane. ** if you happen to walk more than the 2 times that is a bonus and track that as well. TIP: We tend to me more successful in achieving our goals when we are accountable to someone else find a change buddy! Submitted by Catherine Strachan Ktunaxa Dietitian

A mask acts as a barrier it can protect others from your germs. But staying home if you're sick and physical distancing remains critical to preventing the spr...ead of COVID-19. As we move into our "new normal", there may be situations where people will wear non-medical masks for short periods of time when distancing is not possible, like when receiving personal services or while riding a bus. Here are some tips for wearing non-medical masks.
