From our family to yours, we wish you all a Blessed and Happy Thanksgiving!
Check out our new Blog from our Executive Director Gary Janzen!
Meet our new staff person in Rwanda! Her name is Denise Kayitesi and she will be taking on the administration responsibilities of Kugana 10-40 Leadership Society in country there. That includes training and following up with round table groups that are already meeting, as well as the new groups that are forming regularly. We need to raise monthly support to keep Denise functioning there for us. Would you consider a monthly donation of $25, $50 or $100 to help us reach our g...oal of $550 per month? Click on the 'Donate' button which will take you directly to our page for donations. Denise is an amazing young lady who we met early on in our travels to Rwanda and has been a faithful consistent friend over all the years. She has a passion to see her nation building with values and principles out of the book of Proverbs and has an infectious way of connecting with people. She is doing an amazing job, and we need to support her! We greatly appreciate your prayerful consideration to joining us in the very exciting future of Kugana in Rwanda! Stay tuned as we will be rolling out the fruits of the latest video/picture efforts from the latest trip this past May. We should be starting to show these in mid to late July.
http://www.kugana.com//local-judges-in-the-commercial-cour Pastor Norman introduced me to Judge Esther at a Church service. Judge Esther is a Commercial Court Judge in Rwanda and she is part of larger group of judges and court clerks that meet on Mondays for lunch to provide each other with fellowship, encouragement, and support. ... As we discussed the current situations that the courts typically face, it became very clear to me that presenting the Biblical based chapters of Values and Principles was a viable tool to create the improvement that was needed. -- (to read the full story, please visit http://www.kugana.com//local-judges-in-the-commercial-cour)
Another amazing day, to hear the testimonies of how Kugana brings tears to our eyes!
The adventure begins!
http://www.kugana.com/blog/2018/7/19/narrow-road-house We were doing a lesson on Honesty. This young man was very attentive and engaged, but at the end he put his hand up and asked, so you mean to tell me that we should be honest in everything we do?... Do you see that big house up on the hill there? I nodded that I had observed that very BIG house on the hill. He continued, we all know what he did to get that place and we KNOW that he wasn’t honest in all of his dealings! Also, if and when the police come to my door and they ask me where my Dad is, because they want to arrest him because he stole food from the vendor. You want me to tell them where he is? That is our only food source as there is no work available for my dad, so if he goes to jail, we are all hungry again! The young man said, so, tell me again why I am supposed to be Honest? If you were in my position, how would you have answered this young man? -- (to read the full story, please visit http://www.kugana.com/blog/2018/7/19/narrow-road-house)
Please pray for good rental transportation as there is high demand because of an all African conference being held until Friday. We had one today, but am looking for the next couple of days to rent something. PRAY! and PRAY more! Thanks
Just getting ready to go to sleep after I have put away everything from my found and delivered bag!!! They found it in Brussels and rushed it out to me today! In other news, I had another great day of meetings and preparing for the latter end of the week when the video duo of guys come to do interviews, shoot a bunch of pictures and meet the wonderful people of Rwanda! Pray that all things will work as the logistics can be challenging, but they are seasoned as well so it will be awesome and productive!
http://www.kugana.com//first-visit-to-kigali-rwanda-in-may My wife Karen and I (Gary Janzen) had a great opportunity to visit Rwanda for the first time in May 2010, after being in Uganda with Compassion Canada viewing their work in that country. We were able to tack on our side trip to Rwanda to see first hand some of the things that our adopted Rwandese son Jackson, was telling us about his home country Rwanda. The whole experience did not disappoint!... Karen and I were treated with great honor and respect while in Rwanda, and we felt very humbled by the servants of God that we had the privilege to stay with and follow in Compassion Canada’s ministry endeavors. It gave us perspective on who we are, what we have, and what we could do to help in very impactful ways. Karen and I came to the place that we could, in our simple skill sets have a great impact on a nation, but what could that be? ... This past May, our Executive Director Gary Janzen and a team from S&H Media were in Rwanda, read up on that trip, then stay tuned for more updates coming soon, along with some videos! http://www.kugana.com/blog/2017/6/22/rwanda-2017
Development begins in the heart of a single person! Teach them to lead based on kingdom principals and you will redeem a culture and change a country!
